Fifteen National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were kidnapped in Kogi State on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, while returning from their orientation camp in Bayelsa State.

They were traveling to Abuja with Peace Mass Transit. They were intercepted along the Ofu/Itobe–Onicha-Igo axis in Ofu Local Government Area. The passenger manifest is attached.

The person in the video is the sister of one of the abducted victims. Please lend your voice & kindly share or retweet. They need to be rescued & reunited with their loved ones. 🙏

I once sat with a girl who told me she had been raped.
She had gone to spend the night at her boyfriend’s house, & he spiked her drink.
She woke up to signs of sexual assault — confused, scared, & hurt.
I told her we could go together to make a police report.
I sat beside her as the officer said things like:
‘You shouldn’t have gone over there.’
‘You shouldn’t have stayed the night.’
‘You shouldn’t have accepted a drink.’
‘You shouldn’t have been drinking alcohol at all.’

Every word he said was about what she did wrong — not about what was done to her.

I corrected him. I told him that none of the choices she made were her fault.
None of this was her fault.
He was the one who drugged and assaulted her. It’s not ok to say it’s her fault. He was shocked and mumbled well “no”

Instead of taking her report with professionalism, without judgment, without bias — he made her feel blamed.
She left without filing charges.

His name is Dr. Vanman Toinpre Steven. Just finished his housejob at UPTH, awaiting youth service.

Myself and Dr. Italia, his coursemate, were speaking about him just 3 days ago as she was worried about him, we having not heard from him in a while.

Yesterday, we got the news that he was dead. Killed on his way to work, a few kilometers from his place of work where he was on private practice.

My 13-year-old niece stopped going to basketball practice because one of the coaches kept offering to drive her home alone. Her mother thought she was being dramatic.

🚨 UPDATE: The Warri House Officer Has Died.

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Dr. Ogbomade Samson Romani, the House Officer at Central Hospital, Warri, who slumped earlier this week and was admitted into the ICU.

He died in the early hours of yesterday.💔

Dr. Samson, as he was fondly called, was described by colleagues as hardworking, respectful, and dedicated to his duty. He was a graduate of Niger Delta University (NDU).

This is not just another obituary.

In February, Dr. Samson was brutally beaten for nearly 20 minutes by hoodlums allegedly arranged by a patient’s relative. He sustained serious facial and abdominal injuries and had struggled with his health ever since.

His attackers were never arrested.

Now he is gone.

Reports indicate he was laid to rest shortly after his passing.

This marks the second doctor from NDU lost this week. It is a double blow for the NDU alumni and the entire medical community at large. 🎓

We again call on the Delta State Government and relevant authorities:

- Why were the February attackers never arrested?
- What protections are in place for healthcare workers?
- How many more young doctors must die before action is taken?

Dr. Ogbomade Samson Romani was beaten while serving the public. He deserved protection. He deserved justice. He deserved to live.

May his soul rest in peace.
