@RickFOP86 If a State Trooper is killed in the line of duty, the surviving spouse receives a pension, that NEVER increases. They don't always take care of their survivors.
So if a young Trooper dies with young children the pension will not be enough to care for the family.

@FreemanForIndy The widows of those killed in the line of duty are on the same plan. My husband was killed 23 years ago while I was pregnant. What I receive is barely above the poverty guidelines. My husband would be upset to know his dept didn't take care of us better financially.

@FreemanForIndy Are you aware of the current pension plan? The pension will never change once they start receiving it. So they can serve 25+ years protecting and witnessing the most horrible evils in our communities. And it's possible that their pension could some day be in the poverty level.
