A fourth minute goal…
A real collector’s item from Darren Barnard as he heads The Reds in front from Nicky Eaden’s cross at The Hawthorns. He would later produce a trademark free-kick for his and The Reds’ second in a 2-0 win.
On this day 25 years ago, after 339 appearances during which he scored 13 times, Nicky Eaden signed for Birmingham City following the expiry of his contract at Barnsley. A key member of the team that got to the top flight for the first time, he was frustrated about criticism from some sections of the crowd. He is of course now back at the club in he role of Lead Professional Development Phase Coach in the Academy. On the same day, Barnsley signed Carl Regan from Everton for £20,000. In his first season he played regularly in both full-back positions but played less the next season and left for Hull City in November 2002. In total he made 42 first team appearances. #NickyEaden #CarlRegan #definitelyadowngrade #BarnsleyFC #BCFC
