.@WHO is currently reshaping its work on stigma & discrimination, which remains the biggest barrier to access to #HIV prevention & treatment services. There are many good practices, but a consolidated, systematic approach is lacking.

Key takeaway – prioritizing person-centered data is crucial for people who require long-term care so that they can be linked to TB, STIs, viral hepatitis & other healthcare services.

Currently 27 countries in the African region have pre-exposure prophylaxis #PrEP programmes & countries like South Africa, Kenya & Nigeria have successfully scaled up. But for young people & key populations, who would benefit the most from it, access to PrEP remains limited.

During its @ICASA2023 session on #PeP & #PreP, @WHO called for its recommendations to be implemented for all people who need it:
✅oral daily PrEP
✅event-driven oral PrEP for men
✅2 long-acting products: a monthly vaginal ring for women & 2-monthly injectable method
