Earlier this month, I did learning walks in 7 schools in one system. I had freedom to wander at will. I generally saw good to very good teaching and learning. I saw direct instruction, working alone, discussing in pairs, working IN groups, & working AS groups. I saw many lessons using multiple forms of these.
Most teachers in good schools combine common sense with earned expertise that makes a nonsense of the ideological jousting between one extreme and another.

I view CC as an umbrella community, like the queer community.
This is my covid behavior types diagram, based on social distancing and mask type.
I was trying to invent a card system a while back, to help communicate precautions and exposures.
Good Thursday morning.
I know Cornell University has taken over our social media feeds but I'd like to remind everyone that Nolan Wells and all the Black people hanging from trees have not been forgotten.

To be clear, there’s nothing normal about the MAGA regime firing generals left and right just about a month before the most consequential midterm elections in recent memory. That should alarm everyone.
🚨 BREAKING: The family of Renee Good and her partner, Rebecca Good, have filed two federal lawsuits over Good’s January killing by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis.
The first lawsuit is against the United States itself, alleging wrongful death and other claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act. The complaint alleges Ross fired three times as Good’s vehicle turned away from him, killing the 37-year-old mother of three, and argues the shooting violated the Fourth Amendment and DHS use-of-force policies.
The second, much broader lawsuit personally names Ross, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski, Tom Homan, Todd Lyons, Gregory Bovino, and other federal agents. It accuses them of participating in an unlawful conspiracy surrounding “Operation Metro Surge” and brings claims under the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, Bivens, and Minnesota law.
The 149-page complaint alleges Good’s killing was not an isolated incident, but the “predictable and intended product” of a coordinated federal operation that plaintiffs say targeted Minnesota’s Somali and Hispanic communities and sought to intimidate people documenting or warning others about federal enforcement activity.
Together, the lawsuits seek damages over Good’s death and the injuries Rebecca Good says she suffered after witnessing the shooting.
Things Americans need to be talking more about right now:
1.) The Epstein files
2.) The measles outbreak
3.) Pete Hegseth’s removal of top military leaders
Reminder that two current U.S. Supreme Court justices are accused of sexual misconduct:
• Brett Kavanaugh
• Clarence Thomas
That’s nearly a quarter of the Supreme Court.
A rapist at @LSU ADMITTED what he’d done to his victim but they barely gave him a slap on t worst because they wanted him playing football anyway. If you’re enraged about @Cornell, make some noise about LSU too.
Powerful. Thank you for this, @TheAmandaGorman. May it bring healing and light. May Jane Doe(s everywhere) know we are with her; we are her. And may justice serve.
An erasure poem of District Attorney Matthew Van Houten’s explanation for why the Cornell Seven were not criminally prosecuted. The materials sent to the prosecutor by campus police were missing Jane’s assertions that she was raped. Staggering. In this poem, I decided to omit the document to unerase Jane’s truth within it.
Why are they allowed to propose bills like this. Shit should be split up. This should not be a trading scenario.
You shouldnt be able to propose a bill that says “free kittens for everyone” and “all immigrants die” in the same page
The "grab her by the pussy" rapist president and the "free pussy" gang rape at Cornell really sums up how rape culture is so embedded in every facet of our society. And just how normalized it has become.
I. Am. Filled. With. So. Much. Fucking. Rage.
Inflation numbers came out today, and the official story is that inflation went down. What the headline number doesn't tell you is that the government changed how inflation is calculated in the same release. A month ago, they said July inflation was 3.7%. Today, they recalculated July with the new formula and it dropped to 3.36%. If you measure August the same way as the months before it, inflation comes out around 3.8%, which means it went up. They didn't bring inflation down, they just changed how they calculate it.
Bessent did something similar with CPI last month. You only modify the way you calculate if they numbers are that bad. They genuinely thought we wouldn't notice...
