80 years ago, the world’s nations gathered for the first meeting of @UN General Assembly in London.
A landmark moment and a reminder of the UK’s enduring support for the UN since day one.
Yesterday, the UK welcomed @UN_PGA, Member States and @UN colleagues to mark the moment.
80 years since the first @UN meeting in London, the UK partnership with the UN remains vital.
As humanitarian crises worsen - like Sudan where millions face brutal fighting and famine - I spoke to @UNReliefChief about how @UNOCHA is delivering lifesaving aid, with UK support.
Today, to revive the hope of peace for the Palestinians and Israelis, and a two state solution, the United Kingdom formally recognises the State of Palestine.
On World Humanitarian Day, we pay tribute to the aid workers who risk their lives to help others in need.
We call for their protection.
International humanitarian law is clear, civilians and aid workers must never be targeted.

Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy visited the Chad-Sudan border yesterday to bear witness to one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
Famine in Sudan is spreading rapidly – and yet warring parties continue to block access to critical food aid.
An unbreakable bond.
A historic 100 Year Partnership to continue to support Ukraine now and invest in our two countries for the future.
Together we will renew, rebuild and reform for generations to come.
🧵 Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy gave a speech this week on the future of the UK's foreign policy.
The FCDO will focus on two domestic priorities that cannot be solved without action abroad:
➡️ tackling irregular migration
➡️ boosting investment and growth
We are working with longstanding partners including @WFP and @UNICEF to make sure that those hit hardest by conflict, extreme poverty and the climate emergency receive the support they urgently need, including:
✅ Food supplies
✅ Clean water
✅ Access to sexual and reproductive health services
“By cooking this recipe today, and encouraging you to cook it too, I want to keep the Ukrainian spirit alive.”
Ukrainian chef, @Olia_Hercules, talks about Christmas in Ukraine and the value of grain exports. Watch the full recipe on FCDO YouTube⬇️

Shocked and saddened to hear 3 WFP aid workers have been killed by an airstrike in Yabus, Sudan.
Famine is spreading & yet Sudan is one of the most dangerous places to be an aid worker.
The warring parties must adhere to international humanitarian law and ensure their safety.

Together 🇬🇧🇫🇷🇩🇪 have written to the Israeli government to urge action on the unacceptable humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Israel must implement @UN's winter plan now: send equipment to guard against cold & flooding, give access to fuel, repair vital infrastructure, and get aid in.
The situation in Gaza is intolerable. With winter setting in, it’s vital that more aid gets in.
At the Gaza Humanitarian Conference I announced more support for @UNRWA@WFP and @UNOCHA.
We urgently need a ceasefire, the release of all hostages and an end to the suffering.
