Founders talk about product-market fit like it's the finish line.
It isn't.
You can have product-market fit and still lose because your messaging doesn't match the market that fits you.
The product does the job.
The story doesn't reach the person who needs it done.
That gap has killed more good products than bad competition ever has.
Message-market fit is the work nobody wants to do because it doesn't ship.
It doesn't show up in the sprint board.
It doesn't have a completion date.
But everything downstream of it either works or it doesn't based entirely on whether you did it.
I recently helped a friend of mine 5x his account growth overnight after he was convinced he was shadowbanned.
Here's what we did:
#1 We doubled down on winners
He's an AI SaaS founder in the YouTube automation niche, and we noticed that posting 3-5 minute video walkthroughs of YT strategies was outperforming any other content style.
So we had him do more of that specific format.
#2 Experimenting with articles
Articles are hit or miss when it comes to performance.
Either they go very viral, or not at all. But considering his niche was underserved, there was lots of room for article content.
We repackaged some of his videos and turned them into articles.
He published 4 articles across 4 days, and generated 50k+ impressions just from these articles.
The experiment was successful.
#3 Got him to become a lot more active
He had this limiting belief that he should only post once or twice a day on X, or else the algo would punish him.
This belief didn't serve him, so instead I recommended he start just shooting stuff on X whenever he felt like it.
He had 3 things to say in 30 minutes? Post 3 times. Doesn't matter.
He started overthinking each post less and started having more fun.
His volume of content went up, and so did his reach.
#4 Start QRTing hot topics
One of the highest leverage activities to grow on X is to be part of the conversation.
If something in your niche is trending, you want to be part of the convo.
It's how you build authority, and earn free distribution.
He was doing none of that.
I recommended he start QRTing one post a day in his niche.
When you put all these things together, he went from having an account he was convinced was shadowbanned, to one printing awareness and impressions for his business in less than 5 days.
