Men typically zone out when details become irrelevant to the subject matter.
Why exactly do I need to know the colour of the woman's shoes and the bag she just bought in order to understand how she offended you at work?
This is a welcome development. Community policing is the way to go
If people in Kogi, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Taraba, Adamawa, Niger, Southern Kaduna etc and all other Middle Belt States started doing same it will significantly shrink the insecurity in our part of the country
Many Anglican priests in the UK left the Anglican Church when they started conducting weddings for gay couples and joined the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church accepted them and, after a period of training, ordained them as Catholic priests, even though they were married.
My local Catholic priest where my London home is was a married former Anglican priest who converted to Catholicism.
So, celibacy in the Catholic Church is not a doctrine. It is just discipline. Those who cannot keep discipline, even if you let them marry, will still engage in sexual immorality.
There are many Newtons alive today. They are "making discoveries" in obscure fringes of science that people hardly hear about or that dissolve into other products.
The guys at ASML (and Cadence, Applied Materials etc) did magic to crack EUV. Likewise the SpaceX guys who built the elegant Raptor 3 engine. Or the Chinese at CATL and Huawei. These are just the more visible ones.
When you read Nature or Science or the Lancet, you realise what other magic is happening quietly.
They exist. They discover. Everyday.
The New York Times accidentally revealed the moral bankruptcy of capitalism.
China is making breakthroughs in cancer drugs, clinical trials, biotech research, and life-saving medicines.
The first American reaction is not:
“How many patients can this save?”
It is:
“Will this threaten U.S. dominance?”
“Will American biotech lose its edge?”
“Will Big Pharma struggle to keep up?”
That tells you everything.
In a sane world, better cancer drugs would be a human victory.
In Washington’s world, even medicine becomes a battlefield the moment China helps people live.
China’s biotech rise is not just about winning.
It is about responsibility to a massive patient population that cannot wait for American monopolies, American prices, or American permission.
Cancer patients do not care about U.S. dominance.
They care about staying alive.
And that is exactly why China cannot leave this field to America.
@afalli They destroyed the public education system. My Lagos high sch had children of military generals, finance exes & academics mixed with children of cab drivers/middle class. That’s almost inconceivable today. Education was a source of social mobility in Nigeria - they destroyed it.
@afalli One of the fallouts of the structural headwinds our public school system faced over the past few decades (funding, governance, values, etc). The best (largely) got in on merit…so they were competitive levelers…the Unity Schools, Military Schools.
@afalli Pretty similar to my experience at FGCE in the 80s/90s. We all mixed very well and it was much later I discovered how disparate our backgrounds were. Naturally, those bonds have endured till now.
Sadly, it’s difficult to find schools with that mix for our kids, nowadays.
Constantly arguing with people on X is exhausting, people that do not really want the change you desire, people that just want to win arguments but not interested in our nation’s transformation.
I see the views people express and maintain, I see the set of people that express such views; it fades my hope.
A working Nigeria will good for all of us! You will love it Bro! Trust me, you will absolutely love it and curse the wasted years!
Would you kindly put your sentiments aside? Can you do away with your tribalism for the soul of this country?
You deserve better! We deserve better! Let us fight for the redemption of our country!
2023 taught me that a working Nigeria will not 'favour' everybody. We're a hierarchical society that values status highly. For many, a working Nigeria equalizes status and will see them lose. Your kid and your gate man's kid going to the same school is not what many of us want.
The thing with the Sharia propaganda is that when you research, you will see that RMK lost in 2003 because he hesitated and kept putting off signing sharia into law even after the SHOA passed it.
He signed it dying minute on instruction from Obj to save his 2nd term bid.
@afalli They know what they are doing, they don't care about a just society. They only complain when they are on the wrong side of it. Go read what he did to those who opposed him when he was a governor, the people of southern Kaduna had a torrid time under him.
I don't want to hear how much Islam is a feminist religion from a Muslim woman when she lives in America or in west Europe
Say it from Afghanistan، please
People that tell us that dobale and kneeling down to greet our parents is against Islam wants to bring shariah law.
They want to fully replace our cultural values with religious beliefs.
We are Yoruba first!
Not all white people enslaved black people or colonised them
But did all white people benefit from the structures that the exploitation of African people provided?Yes
Similar to the fulani group, they benefit from these groups they join like Miyetti Allah etc who do these things
