obviously other issues at play here but also worth noting that it makes the whole building look like a nightclub owned by a goateed vampire with silver hoop earrings who is about to get murdered with a sword by Blade in his own VIP suite
SOMEONE out there has to have cracked the code of getting three kids out the door in the morning AND two parents ready for work without tears, right? Is it really just “hire a nanny even though everyone is in school/daycare because you can’t do it any other way”?
Loved this thread & it made me think of Mr. Natale (my 9th grade English teacher who provided the first really enjoyable space for me in public school) & hope that I’ve been this teacher for even just ONE of my students in the past 18 years.
I was not a good high school student — my mother died the summer before my 9th grade year, and I really struggled. I got suspended often for fighting, for yelling at teachers. Not a lot of people in the building believed in me.
I’m at home with a maybe sick maybe teething maybe both baby BUT Chris will be at SDCC tonight through Saturday with our middle son Leo & cool signed comics to give away so if you’re also going, please track him down (and say hi to Leo for me!!)
Writing like this is why I subscribe to Bright Wall/Dark Room. As somebody who grew up in Southern California, I can attest that this is emotionally accurate!
This is excerpted from Elizabeth Cantwell’s essay on Steven Spielberg’s DUEL.
rewatched M:I3 and let’s bring back movies with big color palettes, ok? (Could NOT find an imagine without that dumb movie clips logo in it with the green light but oh well)
