Systemic change requires cultural change
Architecture is often still taught as it was decades ago: little content or pedagogical renewal to engage with issues such as building performance, social + organizational value, occupant agency, a changing climate https://t.co/vt7ERvJEO1
With new @FroniusUKSolar export controls and @Tesla gateway we have lift-off at Lark Rise. On this wet & cloudy day, absolutely zero energy has been taken from the @nationalgriduk#passivhaus#PassiveHouse Plus @phplusmag
My message: Passive House is comfortable, draft free, continuous filtered air, high quality windows and doors, future-proof, net zero ready, quiet, resilient, predictable performance, and you save money/energy. Sell that.
This is not normal.
Statistically, the longer you watch something the *less often* records should be broken. As it is, weather records are being smashed with increasing frequency.
The climate is changing. Use your voice, wallet and votes to fight it.
“It’s almost like you don’t even know these numbers exist. As if you haven’t even read the latest IPCC report, on which much of the future of our civilisation is depending.”
A part from my speech yesterday at the French Parliament.
@peteroborn In my mind the sustainable design group would be the best faction of the company to work in, the one that has to work on the forefront of design and technology, and push the boundaries of architecture
Here's what @theCCCuk actually said about the costs (and benefits) of going net zero:
* costs equiv 1-2% of annual GDP
* same as already agreed by parlt for 80% target
* "large benefits" too

@GretaThunberg@TIME What an amazing platform to use to help spread your voice and the truth a lot of people need to hear.
You're an inspiration for us all, and hopefully your determination and continued efforts show the relentless nature we must take on this climate crisis.
Its official.Ireland becomes 2nd country in the world to declare a #ClimateEmergency & Dáil also agreed to endorse all the recommendations of the Oireachtas Climate Action Report .Definitely one of the highlights for me as a @greenparty_ie TD .My children are thrilled.
“MPs have passed a motion making the UK parliament the first in the world to declare an “environment and climate emergency”.
Historic and very hopeful news. Now other nations must follow. And words must turn into immediate action. #ClimateBreakdown https://t.co/9CUv7jt0gm
”Labour launches bid to declare a national climate emergency.”
Hopeful! Hope other politcal parties all over the world will follow. This sends a clear message and we can’t solve an emergency without treating it as an emergency. #ClimateBreakdown
