Hi #rstats users! If you’ve been wrangling data in the tidyverse, the Arquero library in #JavaScript will feel familiar. Here's a primer to help translate common wrangling methods from dplyr & tidyr to Arquero, so you can work more nimbly between R & JS 🪄https://t.co/vpRLUkZNXc
Journals: We only consider papers with more than 1 species
Scientist: Ya but this 1 species cures all modern ailments and unlocks the meaning of life...
Journals: NEEDS MORE THAN 1 SPECIES!
Just published @ESAEcosphere! Examining relationships of winter weather with chlorophyll under ice for 84 lakes, & how drivers of primary production likely shift between seasons - great to work w/ @Sharmalab @mrbrousil @EcoFilazzola#limnology https://t.co/am9Vj1jbZi
I saw another "for loops in #rstats are bad" tweet this afternoon. Thought I'd put my timeline back in balance.
Just pre-allocate your vectors, folks! All is well!
Accessibility surfaces are powerful tools for understanding who can (and cannot) easily access services.
For Day 7: Raster of #30DayMapChallenge, @Mapbox and #rstats are used to analyze walking access to dialysis centers in Waco, TX.

A huge day today for our company with the unveiling of our new SyncroSim package for Canadian fire behaviour modelling. Sold out 100-person workshop in Edmonton! https://t.co/c9nEvWdrRC
Modelling global change isn't only about being in front of a computer. Its important to see sites in person too
We were lucky to visit a project modelling carbon sequestration in KY & TN wetlands
This one was a long time in the making!
Out now in @SciReports we measured how shrubs mediate climate conditions using hourly measurements of air temp and soil moisture

We've been working on seeing how access to green spaces for Toronto residents are not equal. Still very early in our results, but its very obvious that there are large sections of the city where the closest public green space is kilometers away (non-shaded areas)

"An Ecologist’s Introduction to Transitioning into Data Science"
Organizers: Alessandro Filazzola (@EcoFilazzola) & Sophie Breitbart (@SophieBreitbart)
Register at: https://t.co/PRIaLKYjQO
Our first in-person seminar of the year has our newest adjunct @EcoFilazzola discussing his work developing big data tools and techniques to improve our ability to predict ecological responses to global change. https://t.co/jNzCevt1ds
