I'm mainly active on the other place now, because, quite frankly, it's much nicer.
Come and join us! We have loads of lovely conversations about maths and teaching!
I don't post here any more, and rarely check it, but if you're considering making a move to a different platform and want to know where the A Level Maths people are hanging out, a lot of them are here. Come join us! https://t.co/8yGcDXfRDp

@GrahamGiles7@thokennedy@cmdbrazenhussy I think the decision to dictate a particular make and model also comes down to the logistical problem of having multiple different types of calculator in the same class and having to teach to them all. I currently have 3 types (FX-991EX, FX-991CW and CG50) and it's a massive pain
@GrahamGiles7@thokennedy@cmdbrazenhussy Casio seems to have the monopoly. I've no idea if the other makes even have all the required functions (such as the statistical distributions)
@Fellermaths@CasioMaths Sigh... that's annoying. Especially given how much money they're making from teachers and students buying their products. Thanks!
Hi @CasioMaths, when I visit this link on my phone it gives a list of upcoming webinars (teacher and student) However, when I go to the same link on my laptop it says there are no upcoming webinars available. Is this a glitch? Thank you.

@missradders@MissMoss_Moose I have two teacher besties who work at different schools, and if any of us message the group chat with "Cheeky carvery?" we all know it means we need to meet after work one evening asap at a local pub to get food and have a good old rant about everything π It's so therapeutic.
@TheMathsBazaar@t0nyyates I get that the hashtags and regular posting on a theme can be a lot, but in the absence of an algorithm directing you to posts, the tags and feeds make it easier to curate your own own content feed. Personally, I prefer it, but it's not for everyone.
@TheMathsBazaar@t0nyyates I've really enjoyed reading (and sometimes contributing to) posts and threads that you've been involved in on here over the last few years. I just think it's a shame that you'd rather sneer at those types of conversations now, rather than continue to engage with the same people.
@marcmaths No algorithms, no hoards of bots, no repetitive adverts for things I don't want to buy, no people being edgy just for attention... even looking at the "Most relevant replies" filter on this post makes me realise how much less toxic it is over there π

@JohnRubinstein1 I don't know, when I say "public schools" I mean Eton and Harrow and Westminster, not the independent schools in Hull. That might just be me!
@missradders@mathsjem We get automated email feedback from learning walks (3 short questions about whether students were engaged, what type of activity was going on, etc, and a free text box with a little comment)
I prefer it to getting face to face feedback, because it doesn't take any of my time.
