π₯ What works & fails. Learn with me.
15 years ago, I had no money, marketing job, audience, or plan.
Since then:
- Managed $200M+ in marketing
- Led departments
- Taught at universities
- Built a Techstars startup
- Became a dad
Plenty of wrong turns.
I share what I wish I knew and what Iβm still learning.
"We have found a new thing" only works if you've found one before. Chat, reasoning, tool calling.
Most founders can't post a teaser this vague. Nobody would care. But @sama can, and I'm super excited for what they will reveal tomorrow... And you?
@TheCompoundNews@michaelbatnick@awealthofcs What I see as a Marketing guy:
At $30B you're not buying a basketball team. You're buying a global media brand that happens to play 82 games a year.
@neilpatel Future customers read your reply to the 1-star review more closely than the review itself. It's the only ad where you get to show how you handle a problem.
@launch_llama Running marketing as a CMO and teaching it at the same time. The job keeps my teaching honest, and teaching forces me to explain why things actually work.
@TTrimoreau I think that most people treat agents like a smart intern. Great first draft, and someone still reads every line before it goes out. That's not autonomy yet.
@TTrimoreau Same as a new hire. You check everything for the first month, then you spot-check. Agents just haven't had time to build a track record yet.
@wallstengine Yesterday Sam posted "We have found a new thing." Today the next model is off because of what testing found. Curious what's left for DevDay.
@JodylGonsalves Anthropic ships a model, OpenAI posts "Get ready" the same week.
The launch calendar in AI is now a competitive weapon.
Nobody wants to own the news cycle for more than 48 hours.
