@jbarro Yes, it’s getting hotter. Yes, there should be responses to heatwaves, probably involving AC. However, the constant rhetoric of “why can’t they just get AC everywhere” is so incredibly simple at its core.
@patrickc@CliffordAsness I’m attempting to take this reply seriously with an honest question: Would you like to fund the installation of air conditioning in every UK and European household? If so, I’m sure they’d oblige. Perhaps chip in to the wild electricity bills once natural overuse kicks in
@JMC_PGH For me it was zoning relaxation and I guess less specific policy, but appreciated the attempt to define freedom from a liberal pov. Don’t think that’s done well most of the time
@JMC_PGH It was at the very least nostalgic and that made me feel pretty damn good!
Actually appreciated a couple of poignant policy points too. Wasn’t just speech rhetoric.
A compromise I'm willing to make: no congestion pricing, but Manhattan south of 60th Street implements superblocks, where cars are given full access every third street, while the interior is for pedestrians, cyclists, and delivery vehicles (and local parking access). Deal?
@ToyinEdge I think mine is 28 or 29. Basically right before kiddo was born lol.
I have realized getting older that when I was younger, I thought being 50 was so incredibly different than 30. It really isn’t!
