Gender equality is not just one issue, it's every issue.

When the world invests in gender equality, women and girls can start a ripple effect that impacts their family, their community, and their country.

2. Neglected problem.
* Depression is underdiagnosed and undertreated around the world, particularly in LMICs
* Most LMICs spend <US$2 per year per capita on the treatment and prevention of mental disorders (high-income countries spend >$50 on average)

[Julia Ruiz Pozuelo @JuliaRzPz]

Why should we care about adolescent depression in LMICs?

1. Important problem.
* Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide
* Its incidence peaks during adolescence
* It's associated with poor outcomes: substance use, HIV, poverty, lost productivity...

I argue in On Inhumanity: Dehumanization and How to Resist It (OUP 2020) that dehumanization requires epistemic deference to authority figures. Here's an example from the son of a notorious White supremacist.

I'm prepping a talk on how Covid has changed our understanding of economics. What we've learned, what's important, what we value. How we understand the economy or our field differently. Big picture themes.

Would love to crowdsource a bit: Fellow econs, what are your thoughts?
