A son is yours. A king is not. The instant you raise a sovereign, he stops being a private child and becomes the property of a realm and watched by subjects, bound by duty, no longer yours alone. The same rule applies to his heir. Hide that grandson from the kingdom and you have already abdicated the crown you pretend he should wear. He remains what you chose to keep him, only your grandson.
Queen Mother, you cannot keep him in the shadows and still demand he be treated as future king. You cannot claim both the intimacy of family and the majesty of monarchy while ignoring the customs that turn a boy into an heir of a whole throne. By failing to present him to the realm, you decided. You wanted a grandson, not a king.
Enough. We are tired of the contradiction.
The Tooro new king HRM King Edward Rukidi Nyabongo l did not plan for this. He was focused on his private life, circumstances radically changed and he’s suddenly faced with big responsibilities.
He didn't campaign for the throne. Our King Oyo was groomed from age 3, Edward was pulled from a newsroom at 56 as the only option for the continuity of the Tooro dynasty.
We should stop comparing him. He did not ask for this.
People are comparing King Edward Rukidi as if he lobbied, campaigned, and schemed to replace King Oyo. He did not. Actually he accepted the heavy responsibility when someone else eligible said NO dur to his family responsibilities in the UK and more…
Our King Oyo was born to be King. He was groomed from childhood, crowned at 3, carried the kingdom for 31 years. That was his destiny.
Edward's destiny was different. He built a quiet life as a journalist, a father, a private citizen. He was not in royal meetings, not posting crowns, not positioning himself. He was reading the 9pm news.
When the Babiito clan elders led by Musuuga sat and chose him, it was their decision under Tooro custom, not his application.
You cannot compare a man for not being King Oyo. Oyo was flamboyant, young, world-famous. Edward is 56, calm, low-profile. Tooro needs different things at different times.
He did not steal a throne. He was handed a heavy crown in the middle of a funeral as the only last option for the continuity of the Tooro dynasty.
CLARIFICATION: He was not elected.
Tooro had to have a King on the throne within 9 days after Oyo's death as per custom — to perform the Karambi burial rites.
There was no proven son of our beloved king Oyo presented to the Babiito elders.
So the Royal Clan Council had to SELECT a new Omukama from the Babiito princes. That's what they did.
Not an election. Not a popular vote, but a cultural selection.
Prince Desmond was first choice and said no. Prince Edward accepted a huge kingdom responsibilities. It's selection by culture, not election by ballot.
Respect the culture.
I urge the Batooro If you loved Tooro under Omukama Oyo, show that love now by giving Tooro stability. Allow the new Omukama space to breathe, to learn the rituals, to mourn his cousin, and to grow into Rukidi Nyabongo I.
The throne is not a competition. It's a responsibility one can never imagine.
Let him work.

I welcome Dr.Nelson Tugume to the mighty PLU. He can feel confident that the people's movement will protect him and his investments. We welcome all into our movement. We do not hold grudges. Our God, Jesus Christ, taught us to forgive. We believe in forgiveness.
And just like that, we have moved on.
Yesterday, the world stood still. Today, the streets are busy again. The tears dry, the crowds disperse, the headlines change, and life resumes its impatient march.
Such is the brutal brevity of human existence. The world will mourn you, honour you, speak your name, and eventually continue without you.
So while breath still resides in your lungs, live. Love without unnecessary delay. Do the work that gives your existence meaning. Sit with those who matter. Say what must be said.
For time does not announce its departure.
Live life while you can.

Omusuuga wa Toor ye yamazze dad! He has demonstrated that in Uganda, we still have firm, incorruptable and fearless men, silently tucked away is silence of things. He has subordinated political gigs to Kingdom stability. But remember, when young David killed Goriath, what could have been a relief to king Soul turned into hate to a brave boy. Reason? Women praised David rating him higher than the king. Omussuga may be a target by those who feel public has rated him well in unwell social circumstances.
“She may have no official role, but Best Kemigisa is our parent — a wife to a King and mother to a King. It is our responsibility to take care of her. I want to assure you that, as the Tooro Kingdom, we shall continue to look after her,” says Musuuga Charles Kamurasi Akiiki.
Blaming the people pointing out the gap does not make the gap disappear. Mwenda's arguments are verifiable and none of us crucifying him can cancel out anything with distinct evidence.
I stand with Musuuga, Mwenda and Omukama Kijjanangoma. May His Highness live long.

What a principled man Omusuuga!
His love for Culture, Customs and Tooro is unmatched. Tooro is very blessed to have principled men like Omusunga.
He is from the direct lineage of Omukama George David Matthew Kamurasi Rukidi III who ruled 1928-1965 and Omugo Leah Ngaju.
May God continue to grant him wisdom to lead the process for installation of the most appropriate King for Tooro Kingdom.
To the Queen Mother and the late King Oyo's immidiate family, may God strengthen you during this trying moment, may God grant you grace to accept with honor any decision taken by the Babiito. You raised a great King, he served his people with dignity and he's now rested in honor. You've done your part graciously!
Eternal Repose to the Mighty King of Tooro Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
I always look out for people standing firm alone.
The ones the mob shouts at “crucify him”
History has taught us, that 9/10 times, those people are right.
Thank you Musuuga.
OH GOD, BLESS OMUSUUGA!
In the evening of his years,
Omusuuga executed a Herculean task.
Thank you, Omusuuga for doing a thankless job.
Omusuuga managed and led mourners.
A spineless being would have collapsed.
Amidst intense judgement,
He stayed on course.
He kept his eyes on the prize.
He put his head in the game.
He totally locked in.
Omusuuga was unshaken.
He remained resolutely focussed.
The King must be mourned as a Mubiito.
Omusuuga determined to guide everyone.
He taught us the ways of his ancestors.
He was firm where situations demanded it.
He was gentle when strategy demanded it.
As we approach the closure of one reign
And simultaneously start another reign,
I thank God for Omusuuga’s life and leadership.
I thank God for Omusuuga’s support teams.
I thank God for Omusuuga’s family and friends.
Whatever happens tomorrow, Omusuuga juuu!
True traditional men commit themselves to protecting the heritage of their people.
Omusuga helplessly watched the Kingdom slowly slip into foreign influence, as the royal line gradually distanced itself from the customs that define Tooro’s identity.
His role now is to revive what was fading, ensuring that Tooro’s cultural foundations remain intact for future generations.
Thank you, Omusuga 🙏. You are the true hero of Tooro’s heritage.
In his remarks during the press conference, Edwin Kabuleeta, Country Chair of Bureau Veritas Uganda, emphasized that the ISO 9001:2015 certification is not just a piece of paper, but a testament to NIC General Insurance joining the ranks of global leaders.
“This certification is a north star, ensuring every employee moves in the same direction towards customer satisfaction. It is not a walk in the park—it required rigorous international scrutiny with NIC General opening its doors. For other organizations, this is not just NIC’s achievement, but a challenge to the industry on efficiency, trust, and expansion,” Kabuleeta said.
He added that by adhering to international standards, NIC General Insurance Company Ltd is becoming a benchmark that customers will increasingly demand. The certification is valid for three years, with ongoing surveillance to ensure all requirements are consistently met.
