Magistrates Courts Amendment Act,2026 gives effect to Chief Justice’s promise to take justice closer to the people

Members of the International Association of Women Judges – Uganda Chapter (IAWJ-UC) today successfully held their Elective Annual General Meeting, ushering in a new team of office bearers.

Lady Justice Olive Kazaarwe was elevated from Vice President to President, while Lady Justice Joyce Kavuma was elected the new Vice President.

In her remarks, Lady Justice Kazaarwe Mukwaya reaffirmed her commitment to service above self, noting that leadership within IAWJ is rooted in dedication, sacrifice, and a genuine passion to serve the vulnerable, without expectation of monetary reward. She assured members that the newly elected Executive comprises proven and tested leaders ready to steer the Association forward.

Other elected office bearers include Lady Justice Elizabeth Jane Alividza as International Director, HW Dorothy Lwanga as Treasurer, HW Stella Amabilis as Assistant Treasurer, HW Roselyn Nsenge as General Secretary, HW Pamela Bomukama as Assistant General Secretary, HW Rehema Nassozi Ssebbowa as Publicity Secretary, HW Dr. Irene Namae as Assistant Publicity Secretary, and HW Fortunate Kamukama as Representative of Founder Members.

The AGM concluded on a high note, with laughter courtesy of the Queen of Comedy, Anne Kansiime, followed by a vibrant dance session that brought members together in celebration.
