One morning, escaping the heat of the tents, my younger sister Shahd, ten years old, and I walked to the sea not far from where we were sheltering.
We sat on a rock—the rubble left behind by the Israeli assault of 2014.
I sat there trying to draw a smile on her face.
She was trying to do the same for me.
We watched the fishermen: their struggle, their hard work, the way they hauled in their nets together, and the rhythm of their rowing. We watched the seagulls as well, going about their work just like them.
At the point where the horizon met the farthest reach of the sea, a gray warship appeared.
Repulsive.
Terrifying.
It cut through the water harshly, while its soldiers fired bullets into the sea as though they were playing a game.
Perhaps they had spotted a school of fish heading toward Gaza and decided they had to stop it.
Shahd looked at me with dimmed eyes and said in a low, frightened voice, as though she feared someone aboard that monster cutting through our sea might hear her:
“The bullets can reach us.”
I did not answer.
Silence.
I did not answer.
I took her hand, and we left.
I returned to my tent.
Today, Israel killed a fisherman in Gaza’s sea.
There's only one thing I find more appaling than the discriminatory treatment of the Iranian football team by the US in the upcoming World Cup 2026 and it isn't that corrupt FIFA allows it. It's the collective silence of 47 other nations that are participating.
Tonight, in West Asia, Israel's 'freedom of operation' (read: slaughter) in Lebanon came to an end. Iran ended it with its missiles, making good on its promise. Humanity owes Iran a great huge debt of gratitude and admiration
All the news outlets will now report a “wave of missiles”, “a barrage of rockets”, and “bombardment” because Israel is being struck.
The sanitising language of “targeted attacks”, “military action”, and “operations” will suddenly disappear.
We don’t need a Hind Rajab Foundation, a spineless UN or useless ICC. We need a global network of bounty hunters! Put the funding we have to results-oriented use!!
A memo to the Nazi party from the Zionist Federation of Germany on June 21, 1933, (page 155 of Lucy Dawidowicz’s A Holocaust Reader) assured the fascists that they saw eye to eye:
“Our recognition of the Jewish nationality allows us to establish clear and sincere relations with the German people and its national and racial realities…because we too are against mixed marriages and for the maintaining of the purity of the Jewish group.”
Trump's "Board of Peace" is doing exactly what it was designed to do: launder Israel's genocide as "diplomacy," blame Palestinians for their own starvation and turn "reconstruction" into cover for occupation and ethnic cleansing. Read @maureenclarem: https://t.co/dOTNZbYTeJ
The Tank Man image is so powerful that most people believe tanks crushed protesters at Tiananmen.
They didn't. The tanks stopped for Tank Man. He lived.
The Israeli bulldozer did not stop for Rachel Corrie.
She was 23.
She was American.
She was wearing an orange vest.
She died on March 16, 2003.
Marco has never posted about March 16.
“The problem is not the Jewish presence in the holy land, it’s always been there. The problem is not high levels of Jewish immigration to Palestine. The problem here is the colonial agenda transforming an overwhelmingly Arab territory into an exclusivist and supremacist Jewish state which required the removal of the Arab population.”
