We are a collective of organizations and individuals – constituents, voters, and former staff – who are writing to @SenMarkey to call for a #CeasefireNow. Read, sign, and share our letter here: https://t.co/s2hvE0elQ7
Today's violent raid at UC Santa Cruz, a savage response initiated by Lori Kletzer and Cynthia Larive.
Despite this brutal attack on our students AND faculty, we remain resilient, filled with strength, and cemented in our commitment to getting our demands being met. 🇵🇸🇵🇸
“Violent protest is not protected; peaceful protest is. ... Vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes ... none of this is peaceful protest.”
— President Biden condemns many campus demonstrations.
College Democrats’ votes are not to be taken for granted by the Democratic Party. We reserve the right to criticize our party when it fails to listen to us.
1) Refuse, as recent protesters have done explicitly at Emory University in Atlanta, to be divided into students and "non-students." This is not a student issue. It is a popular movement taking place, for the moment, on campuses.
not the first! stanford started in late october & held for 120+ days. they’re back in white plaza for round 2 now. condoleeza rice, director of hoover on stanford’s campus, was the only person on the UN security council to vote against a ceasefire in 2009.
i find it really intriguing how the south’s student activism never gets as much media attention as other regions. day 28 of Vanderbilt’s encampment and i only read about it being the first university to start one YESTERDAY.
Much like the replica cities used as video game playgrounds for the armed forces, there will be new facilities for police to practice urban warfare.
In America’s descent into fascism, we, the people, are the threat.
Many local police now have received training from members of the IDF, and vice versa. If the cop cities planned to be built all around the states are successfully built, it will all get much much worse. Our politicians know this.
But do they care?
Massachusetts ACLU said the biggest thing the documents revealed was that SWAT units are increasingly being used for relatively minor arrests. It’s no longer the police we’re dealing with — it’s the military.
In 2015, @ACLU obtained council records & documents that revealed the purchase of two bearcats — armored military-grade vehicles that cost $386,000, as well as other military-grade equipment.
They can and will use this militaristic force on students.
In solidarity w/ fellow students & alumni at campuses around the world as we collectively fight for a free Palestine.
We stand against the increased militarism of police forces & see clearly the connections between the occupation of Palestine & the descent into fascism at home.
Northeastern arrests happening with NUPD and Boston police. @MayorWu tried to tell us yesterday BPD wouldn't be involved. They removed journalists to prevent coverage of this brutality.
Free Palestine and Fuck the Police!
