As our days at our placement are coming to an end I have noticed how well a class can be run when you not only care for the students but also self assess and and aren’t afraid to change the routine if it means improving! #edu310
This week I worked with a group of kids who were absent and had to catch up on work. We did their reading for reading group, a spelling test and caught up on puzzles on ST math. It took is a while but we got it all done during snack time and before lunch!#edu310
@hannakeisler Yay! 🥳 So good to hear it all went great. Math has been my favorite to help the kids with, even though everyone is learning the same thing they all go about it differently.
@ReeceWorac001 So happy to hear it went well! Did you use any hands on materials for your lesson? I am sure they had so much fun learning how to do less than and greater than.
Last time I was at my placement I worked with a small group to read this short passage, answer questions and summarize what we read about. The kids read the passage 3 times to fully understand what they read and we went back to highlight where we got our answers. #EDU310
My supervisor was also very supportive and was surprised by how well the kids behaved and transitioned into the lesson. She loved the learning targets and mentioned I projected well which was good to hear because I struggle with that. Can’t wait for the next one 🤓 (2/2)
Today was my first observation and it went great :) I was a little nervous but my MT was so supportive which made me feel better. Our word study lesson went smoothly and I realized I felt very comfortable with the whole class a couple minutes. (1/2) #edu310
Today the 4th graders had an assembly to recognize their effort and good behavior. Some of the students received awards, they were so happy! We also did social studies today which is only done on Fridays and the kids had a great time with the activity. #EDU310
Yesterday the kids worked on their “Pumpkinpine”! I also did a practice run guiding them through their word study. I was nervous with so many eyeballs on me but after a few minutes it went smoothly. My MT and the other teachers in the room gave me great feedback :) #EDU310
Include her but she usually puts her head down. I tried to work 1:1 with her today but she doesn’t like to follow along. I feel bad but don’t know how to help :( other than that I am prepping for my observation and practicing co-teacing next wk #EDU310 (2/2)
Last week in my placement we got a new student. I don’t know if every school has a protocol for new students in the middle of the year but my MT didn’t even know the students name, just that she was arriving. A week in and today I noticed she’s very lost and the kids try to (1/2)
The students had a place value lesson today and I got to work 1:1 with a student. It was difficult because he wouldn’t do his part, he couldn’t concentrate and I didn’t know how else to approach him. I decided to read step by step with him and we managed to do 3 problems. (2/2)
Today I saw a great example of having to adjust and change routines based on student behaviors and needs. The morning routine changed due to taking advantage of BR breaks. Math is still a struggle but ST math has been helping them to individually catch up. (1/2) #EDU310
