I’ve loved being in the classroom this semester because it’s a completely different learning experience. My MT is great and I’ll miss all the students. I’m going to try to learn as much as I can in the last few weeks I have there #edu310
I didn’t go in this week since my MT was out. I can’t help but wonder what behavior and routines will look like after 2 weeks with a sub and thanksgiving break #edu310
@BeardsleyJimbo That’s so fun! The students at my placement are also prepping for their concert and they’re having so much fun. They belted Fifty Nifty United States the other day during independent work. So good it gave me the chills. What songs are your students doing?
My MT was out of the classroom so I didn’t go in this week. It was a good break but I’m ready to get back to it. I’m thinking of going in on a Friday to see Social Studies and Science #edu310
@HistoryCollin I agree. I’ve also noticed that some kids don’t say anything when they’re feeling stuck. Walking around and checking in with students makes all the difference. #edu310
@MaddieLaszewski I absolutely love children’s literature and I’m also excited about growing my own classroom library. What book did you end up choosing? #edu310
One of my favorite things about working with 5th graders is that I get to see them and say good morning as they’re doing safety patrol in the mornings. Sure I know how to cross the road, but I wait for them (the experts) to tell me it’s safe to do so #edu310
@teacherashley21 History can be such a hard subject. It’s a different time with different people and different problems. What is your MT doing to support students?
One of my favorite things about writing is the pride students have about their amazing stories. This week a student came up to me during snack and said “Ms. G, I wrote another story! Can I read it to you?” Obviously I said of course. So proud of them! #edu310
@MsRacitiTeaches Don’t you love that? Allowing students to sit wherever they’ll focus best is such a game changer. Even if it’s as simple as letting them sit at the group table when it’s not in use
@jessie_d14 One thing my supervisor reminded me is that they may be a little loud, but they’re engaging with the content so it’s okay. I get what you mean though. At what point is it too much?
This week I saw how hard it can be to come back after having a sub for one day. It’s important to have detailed sub plans and a routine for the class to follow, but even then, hope for the best I guess. #edu310
@EnglishEdTech I’ve read a few but unfortunately no, I won’t be able to read them all. I might ask my MT what she was looking for as she was assessing them though
Students are finishing they’re personal narratives this week. It’s so fun to see how excited and proud they are of their writes because they should be! They’re amazing! #EDU310
Had my first observation yesterday and she said it was good! She was also very nice and answered my questions afterward. One thing I’ve been learning is that reflection and knowing your students is important for effective lessons #EDU310
@missk002 That is so true. Even with so many years of experience, my MT has had to change the seating arrangement several times in just the last few weeks. At least now I know for the future to not worry about getting it right the first time
