I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned at my placement this semester! I also absolutely loved getting to know all the students! Time to start planning my second observation! #edu310
My MT introduced a new project to the students that requires them to individually present to the whole class. A lot of the students looked spooked, but I think that it’s great to get them started on the skills of public speaking! #edu310
My MT had me give a student a Phonemic Awareness Skills Test. Afterwards, I got to watch her fill out a student referral form. I’m glad my placement has allowed me to get a deeper understanding of what I’m learning in my other edu courses! #edu310
@edumissv Congrats! So glad that it went well for you! While doing my observation, I realized I’ve gotten a lot more comfortable in front of the whole class too!
@teacherashley21 The touch math we do together has visuals to represent each number. Zero has no visuals and they can’t seem to grasp the idea that it means nothing! Even tried using my fingers to represent the numbers. Wondering if I should start using physical examples.
I’ve been doing touch math with a small group of students. The focus is on adding numbers 0-10. One of the students has a hard time understanding how to add 0 to numbers, no matter how hard I try to explain it. Any tips on how to explain the number 0? #edu310
@KearraMcneal Kids really don’t hold back sometimes do they! Being able to talk to them that way is a great quality to have! It will only continue to benefit you!
@hannakeisler Hey Hanna! I hope you had fun on the field trip! The students must have been amazed by the fire station! Good luck on your observation, you are going to do great!
We had to seek shelter at my placement last week, due to the tornado warning. Quite a few students got emotional after finding out it wasn’t a drill. All of the teachers did a great job at calming them down and reassuring them that they were safe! #edu310
@jessie_d14 Classrooms can be hectic enough, I can’t imagine what a field trip would be like! I bet the students loved the opportunity to do something outside of the classroom, though!
One thing I’ve noticed from clinicals so far is that the classroom layout is always changing. Whether it is the seating arrangement or the placement of a bookshelf, the classroom is still trying to be improved. #edu310
Last week the Wi-Fi wouldn’t work when the students went to do their online work for math. Since they weren’t able to access the resources, my MT had to come up with a different activity for them to do. It’s crazy how much teachers have to improvise! #edu310
