BREAKING: Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan, has called on Saudi troops to be prepared to sacrifice their lives in the fight against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.

The message carries an unmistakable sectarian dimension: Saudi Arabia’s highest Sunni religious authority rallying forces against the Shiite Houthi movement backed by Iran.

In the address, Al-Fawzan praised the soldiers as defenders of “monotheism and the Sunnah” and prayed for the downfall of Iran’s regime and those supporting it.
