New essay on the Eros Aristocracy: "young people don't go out anymore" because they are efficiently sorted out.
I analyze accelerationism and internet amplification of youthful Eros, pure sociality, looksmaxxing and cosmetic monoculture, rise of party schools, age-gap hysteria.
My experience reading Sentimental Education after mention by BAP was to be repeatedly shocked by the freedom and superior quality of life enjoyed in the 19th century, even among the poorer characters.
Free association by public happenstance with important people; education and work presenting a much clearer path to immediate worthwhile results, and yet much more unmanaged and forgiving to those off of "success pipelines"; limited money being spent on gifts and idiosyncratic ambitions rather than overpriced necessities.
And of course the sexual licentiousness of characters reminds that pre-sexual revolution times were not prudish and repressed; if anything the revolution was one of both prudishness and anti-romanticism.
Common theme in French novels 19thC is protagonist will rent out apartment for month to have on hold.
Average salary for worker was something like ~1950 francs. Rent varied but 2room around 160/year, 0.45 francs a day. And if rent was less than 400, city of Paris took on the tax
@curtis_yarvin Also have to keep in mind Jefferson's pro-democracy stance was framed as a means to the same end sought by Hamilton and Adams: elevation of "natural aristocracy" to leadership.
Seeing as that has clearly failed, democracy is without justification.
Darwin said the whole point of everything is just getting baddies, but BAP qualifies the statement: that's only true in a fully owned society. You can imagine the impulse a kid has playing Minecraft or Call of Duty, to create civilization, compete, and go to war… but you may stop playing those games once you’re old enough to truly internalize that they are fake.
But imagine a world where those activities are real and have real rewards — sexual conquest is but one of many ambitions. That requires anything else left to win, and we do not have it. (In many ways we do not have sexual conquest anymore either and as such we have Pandafication.)
Baudrillard says we have Disneyworld to hide the fact that the rest of the country is just as fake. Video games serve same purpose I think.
Really it’s the opposite of what fearmongering child "advocates" say: it’s not that young kids will be violent in real life because they are violent in their games, but that they will be violent in games because they first think like it is real life.
@Logo_Daedalus Of course a pretentious nosering MFA socialist could not write the next great American novel, but nobody in the DEI literary world would take seriously the chud poaster who has seen the horrors of moderni— oh they just mean slavish slopaganda oppression porn.
@danfaggella@samswoora Part of why humanity is so careless with animal extinction is because it's out of sight, out of mind. AI I assume would be more omniscient.
And moreover, when we revere a certain species enough (for instance lions or tigers) we take special care even when they are out of sight.
Social media has homogenized but only within types. Those whose nature and status fit the mold of certain experiences are channelled to them through transparent feedback loops of nurture.
Many extroverted, hierarchical and beautiful youths seek SEC or Big10 greek life, which have many similarities, but SEC is more explicitly intertwined with familial status, and Big10 is more cosmopolitan, and with more expectation of moving to big shitty after college.
That said, greek life types at all major party schools (contrary to resentful nerd narratives) have elevated expectation compared to typical college students of meeting their spouse before they graduate.
@LordIxabert I wonder if astrology only appears fake because the spirit of mere life—most life—is so small that there is little for the planets to sway. Most life has no birthday. Signs of influence are much more pronounced for you or BAP or a president born during a lunar eclipse in 1946.
I agree and expect this has something to do with their artistic tastelessness. The other extreme, good taste, is out of their reach, since it requires either a consensus (which today does not exist) or subtle incremental growth through artistic traditions, so only the extreme of kitsch ensnares them.
They do manage better, however, to calibrate to the extremes of natural beauty, perhaps in part by sheer sample size. https://t.co/v7lSkTDH4k
Because women are more in tune with nature, they are naturally great aesthetic curators
This is hard to believe because women are poisoned by language, devolving into vectors for kitsch therapyslop, smut, and shallow politics

"BAP talks about this"
Resentful leftists thoroughly erased all common knowledge of classes and kinds of people, in favor of the obvious fiction of “equality.” Leaving just a person's resume to determine whether they are fit to lead.
If everyone is supposedly equal, then of course all the work should be done BEFORE getting the job, and overkill of box checking is required, because there’s no other way to distinguish yourself as deserving. What is the benefit of all that experience?
All the while, the quick and effortless solution, judgment of a person’s type, is also the more accurate and valuable method. Any important skills can easily be learned on the job.
The left wants a system where worth is proven by “experience” rather than genuine talent and virtue.
(This goes for politics and for any kind of modern employment.)
It’s really pathetic that she has to slam Pratt as an ‘amateur’ because her record is so bad that she can’t run on it, and she has no answer to his quality of life criticisms.
Much like many Americans assumed the Prefect system and School Houses were a magical invention of JK Rowling, and not a reality of British schools, many have been duped into thinking the virtue and heroics in King Arthur stories, for example, are magical fantasy ideas rather than a reality throughout history.
It’s assumed all leaders must and even SHOULD be sniveling, resentful Obama types, that power corrupts, and that it would be impossible to have rule by the Good and the Great… so much so that when such a rule occurs, the ruler is hated.
In a single year of looksmaxxing men solved skincare and hair and have moved on to reshaping their entire faces and reverse aging, w*men spent 200years plastering their faces w lead based chemicals and bleach.
New essay: Art Without Epiphany
I analyze the flattened psychology, glossy journalistic style, and sterile inspiration of today's art, the scientist-artist, why Nolan was never fit to direct The Odyssey, and institutional and educational suppression of great art
Notice how the right promotes ancient philosophers, making it clear we've identified the same problems and solutions for thousands of years
But the left has to entirely rebrand their slave morality schtick every election cycle, lest people realize what they really believe
Very important to remember that they do not ever change their ideas, they only change their words to conceal their ideas. They will rebrand DEI to try to trick white men into coming back into their tent. They only want to do this so that they can get close enough to kill you.
I think of David Bowie's cocaine addiction during Station to Station/Thin White Duke. Dismissed as madness despite his lyrics across prior albums. Then later he writes shallow liberal songs with Tin Machine, sparing his own name. How does an artist become so dull so quickly?
"It's not the side effects of the cocaine, I'm thinking that it must be love"

@allarobarnobest In general the plodding and entitled neutrality of the English has done all it can alone, and would benefit from injection of the decisive and active nature of the Italians.
@SydSteyerhart I'm not sure. At a certain level of efficiency, prehistoric hierarchies seem to reassert themselves, but within contemporary frameworks -- reterritorialization, undoing of the Last Man, reassertion of spirit, "which ceaselessly strives for appearance and the
superficial"
