I did a thing this term where I told my students they were allowed to use ChatGPT. The catch was, they had to tell me about it in a reflection when they handed in their paper. This is a thread about how it all went.
@profmissfortune It’s starting in high school. Found this in the copy room. We have been pushed since the pandemic to “rethink” our grading scales. Your child passes with a 22%, and our graduation rates look great.
Rare to see such impressive gains as these: AP World History teachers expanded access to ~40,000 more students, and scores increased significantly – with an especially large jump in the % of 5s. As a result, 36,000 more students earned scores of 3+ this year than last!
Florida recently notified us that we must modify any AP courses that include content prohibited by their new laws that restrict instruction related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Our response: https://t.co/u2RkSh6bKX
We are at a critical point in our country’s history. If you do not understand the complexities and promise of our past, you cannot imagine a better future. We either invest in the humanities, including history and civics, or we forfeit our democracy. https://t.co/kMzhDRpj7x
Vitally important thread. It sometimes appears to me that national lawmakers are so isolated from what’s happening on the ground they don’t really understand what they are creating. What this thread lays out is why historians’ hair is on fire.
Hearing @lizzo play some of the Library's priceless antique instruments on Monday was such a gift, and we were honored and happy to help her share that gift with her concert audience Tuesday night. Here is some more behind-the-scenes footage of her Library tour. #LizzoAtLOC

Harvard studied heterosexual married couples who both work at least 3 days a week.
The study found that stress from work made men terrible partners at home.
But women, despite being just as stressed from their day at work, exerted the emotional labor to be supportive at home.

We celebrate the life of Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek actor, trailblazer, and role model, who symbolized to so many what was possible. She partnered with us to recruit some of the first women and minority astronauts, and inspired generations to reach for the stars.
