@amaaretz Thanks. I’m surprised that I don’t recall that article (I was at the bicentennial event referenced and Have Thoughts about it and the direction KAJ/YRSRH has continued to go in for the last 18
years, but that’s another story…)
@amaaretz It’s been a while since I read the Klugman bio but I remember being reasonably impressed with it. I admire R’ Adlerstein for his intellectual honesty and general rhetorical moderation, but I don’t recall his ever quoting R’ Hirsch or expressing a clear connection to his writings.
Cheers, chills, and a standing ovation when RASolute 302 showed unprecedented survival on daraxonrasib for patients with progressive pancreatic cancer
Seldom do you sense you’re witnessing a historic moment in cancer care but this feels like ras targeting has arrived

@mdbrodsky@CoreyWriting@Jesse_Leg@bethanyshondark There are no Jewish dual-curriculum schools with published tuitions comparable to those of the non-elite Catholic schools in their geographic regions. The Samis foundation did a pretty good study on why that is:

@hchesner I remember listening on the radio (remember that?) to the first Obama/Romney debate (the one where Obama was apparently dozing off in the middle) and being grateful that our country could produce two intelligent, public-minded candidates (even if I had a definite preference)…
Great overview of several personalities I’ve been interested in for some time now. @JYuter — I think we discussed some of this a number of years back; might be worth checking out…
@SeforimChatter Terrific conversation. I’ve been interested in the subject for quite some time, and this sounds like exactly the book I’ve been wanting to read. We absolutely need biographies on some of these rabbinic figures (Raphall, Einhorn, Bernard Illowy, etc.)
@Discworld_com One of my recommended "on ramps" for the series to newcomers. Will never fail to amuse me that both my vehemently atheist friends and my deeply religious friends see the book as supporting their viewpoints...
Note to my coreligionists: if you’re going to (admirably!) call out someone’s racism by name, don’t preface that call-out with “let’s call a spade a spade,” ok?

@FriedaVizel Thank you for being willing to share your thoughts openly and in such a balanced manner. We would have a much better world if people were a) willing to be as nuanced as you and b) able to appreciate those nuances, regardless of their political/social affiliations and preferences.
@FriedaVizel ’s Mother’s day reflections on childhood in Kiryas Joel are an absolutely beautiful and gut-wrenching challenge to all regarding our values and balancing tradition and modernity. Must-watch/listen:

@IlanBlock Not that I know of: to my way of thinking, you've identified three sources of knowledge. There's also inspiration, analysis, creativity, imagination, and practice, which are variously read into chochmah, binah, and da'at by different people.
@ReuelTopas@elongilad He didn’t do anything of the sort. There are no shortage of great rabbis with zero observant descendants (see, fr’instance Chacham Bernays, R’ Hirsch’s primary teacher). Assimilation ran rampant at that time, regardless of the observance level of the parents…
