When Carney gave his now-famous speech in Davos, many of us - perhaps naively - were excited that Canada would emerge as a global leader to reinforce international law and its principles.
Ever since, Carney has worked hard, it appears, to disappoint us.
Here, for instance, he downplays Trump's language of annihilation as mere "war talk" and goes on to repeat the Israeli line that Iran constitutes an existential threat to Israel.
Carney's key point in Davos was that Western states applied international law "with varying rigour depending on the identity of the accused or the victim."
And that is exactly what Carney did here. He downplayed Trump's horrific language (would he have done it if Pezeshkian had uttered those words?) and then went on to indirectly justify the illegal war by repeating Israeli propaganda re Iran's threat to Israel.
Deep inside, I knew he would disappoint. Just not this fast and not this embarrassingly.
Macklemore has announced the "Free Palestine" tour after he was dropped from Ed Sheeran's U.S. concerts for making speeches supporting Palestine.
The tour includes three shows set for Dublin (Oct. 26), Paris (Oct. 29) and London (Oct. 30). All ticket sales and proceeds from the concerts will benefit organizations supporting Palestine.
"If these last couple of weeks have shown us anything, it’s that something has shifted over the last three years,. There has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires that try to censor that call, and what we expect from artists right now," says Macklemore.
"It’s 2026. Being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore. People are asking artists to show up, educate themselves and be in community. To use the stage for more than entertainment. To push back when the call for a Free Palestine is met with attempts to silence it... What happened to me is bigger than one artist or one stage. When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention."

For shame. The president of the United States goes to the United Nations and threatens genocide against a UN member state in front of the world.
This is where we’re at.
This image that is circulating now on social media shows what childhood is like in Palestine. A child returning from school, hiding in fear when he sees an Israeli military car. Palestinian children deserve better than this. We’re tired of living in fear. We’re tired of fearing for our children every time they go back home from school. When will this end?
The depth of Israel's international isolation is difficult to fathom if you're just watching mainstream media.
But these images do not lie. Look at all these delegates leaving the General Assembly in protest as soon as Netanyahu takes the podium... https://t.co/Ul7j6UVgkS
Our greatest ally is routinely amputating incarcerated Palestinian’s arms and legs due to handcuff injuries.
Haaretz reported that the doctor said “inmates are fed through straws, defecate in diapers and are held [in] constant restraints, which violate medical ethics and the law.”
An American surgeon's voice breaks as he retells how he amputated the leg of a 5 year old girl in Gaza without anesthesia. The only anesthesia was the doctor singing to her.
"The ER floors was filled with dozens of babies that were missing limbs."
This is Israel's genocide.
Palestinians in Gaza held a mass funeral for 112 members of the Abu Sharia and al-Hasayna families, nearly three years after they were killed in an Israeli attack.
More than 8,000 Palestinians are still believed to remain beneath the rubble across Gaza.
Full statement on my decisive Employment Appeal Tribunal victory against the Zionist movement, solidifying anti-Zionism as a protected philosophical belief under UK equality law.
People can no longer be discriminated against for their anti-Zionist beliefs.
Today, Gaza held its largest mass funeral ever - over 112 bodies that were only recently recovered after months of being under rubble were laid to rest.
And today, Abdul Rahman El-Syed won a significant victory in Michigan - a victory that has already sent shock waves through the Democratic and Republican parties, and is reshaping conversations at every level of American politics.
These two news items are not unrelated. AIPAC and its allies spent a staggering $65 million on Abdul's opponent, precisely because they wanted to continue using our taxes, our weapons, and our veto power to finance their genocide against Palestinian families. Let that sink in: AIPAC spent $65 million to secure one nomination within the Democratic party for one potential Senate position. And ...they lost.
For countless voters, this campaign became about more than a single candidate. The results today, after the last two years of brutal genocide in Gaza, and after decades of their racist Apartheid rule, put beyond doubt the reality that Isr@ael and its allies have simply lost any and all credibility in the eyes of average, hard-working, tax-paying Americans. Today's outcome reflects a surging demand among many Americans for a foreign policy that is shaped first and foremost by the interests, values, and conscience of the American people. It became a statement that no lobbying effort—foreign or domestic—should outweigh the voice of ordinary citizens, and no aid should ever be given to kill innocent civilians. The support of a candidate by AIPAC is now, finally, deemed by large segments of our country a liability, not an asset.
The dignity, courage, and perseverance of the people of Gaza in the face of occupation, massacres, and war have shaken the foundations of an entrenched establishment whose moral authority has steadily eroded. We look forward to a future defined by justice, not complicity - a future in which our country does not bankroll foreign wars and atrocities, but rather offers better services to its own people.
A fetus in the rubble. Their bombs incinerate mothers with babies in their wombs. Remember the “40 beheaded babies” and “babies in ovens” lie? This is what they do every single day, even after the “ceasefire”.
Israel can do so.
Ban any gathering of 20+ people in the occupied territory, with no explanation (if Palestinians).
That's what apartheid looks like: different rights based on identity.
That's why Israel deserves isolation, and its leaders investigation and prosecution.
⭕️ Two Israeli female soldiers photographed themselves posing beside a young, blindfolded Palestinian detainee who appears to be a minor and proudly posted the image on Instagram.
The post, which circulated widely online and was reviewed by Drop Site News, was uploaded by Israeli soldier Nikol Stelmashvski as part of a 20-photo carousel containing additional images from her time in Gaza. Her account [@ nikol.stel, IG] has since been made private after the photo drew public backlash.
The image is the latest in a documented pattern of Israeli soldiers publicly sharing evidence of Palestinian detainees being humiliated or abused. Such conduct violates international humanitarian law, which prohibits the degrading treatment of detainees.
