@mariashriver Where did he say he’s banning press? They can still publish whatever they want. You know it yet you still want to twist the facts that’s exactly what he’s talking about.
@chamath Total BS for Elon, no way it is even remotely possible. Why doesn’t he allow peer review on his rockets and cars won’t kill anyone with more than 10% chance.
@dee_bosa Don’t take any one person’s view too seriously, it is just another view being expressed unfortunately it gets amplified when a different group finds it useful for its purpose so they end up agreeing for different reasons.
@DrEliDavid@huggingface Anthropic has always been too cautious on compute spend, they were applauded for that able to show a profit even, but it is turning to a problem now when everyone is gunning for them while IPO demands profit to continue.
@jimcramer it’s just OpenAI and Anthropic perhaps xAI, open source will gain more momentum. Anthropic is being squeezed and after IPO they will be under more pressure. Sneaky Altman baited Anthropic to go first while Altman decides next course of action for OpenAI
@DrEliDavid@huggingface Yup, Nvidia’s acquisition of @huggingface and $meta release of MUSE are the two triggers. AI only labs are difficult to sustain; enterprise will switch to free open source in a heartbeat. Anthropic and OpenAI aren’t smarter than everyone else, compute is the main differentiator.
@alexandr_wang@wholemars Misalignment is that the likes of META can leverage AI to make more money on the existing business and use that to fund AI spending; while likes of Anthropic, OpenAI have to make money on AI itself to pay for bills and find it increasingly difficult to sustain.
@BillAckman@farzyness@AnthropicAI@OpenAI Those rely solely on AI for profit is feeling the squeeze just see who agree on the slowdown and who are silent. @alexandr_wang is talking muse nonstop so exactly silent I suppose.
@DrEliDavid Interestingly Meta, Google throw in Microsoft are completely silent on this, 3 companies that have different AI profit strategy than anthropic, OpenAI and Groc. It’s about open source catching up, muse announcement and momentum.
Steve Jobs: “Marketing is about values”
“To me, marketing is about values. This is a very complicated and noisy world. We’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is. So we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us… Remember, Nike sells a commodity—they sell shoes! And yet when you think of Nike, you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes, and they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about.”
@TSLAFanMtl There’s no marketing/sales executives at Tesla. They won’t last there because of Elon, probably why Zach left, only one close to have some sales and marketing common sense.
@TSLAFanMtl@SawyerMerritt@elonmusk Elon doesn’t seem to know the different dynamics of Chinese vs US buyers. One is cost, US is range and charge time. I don’t know if Tesla has solid goals for the latter. Just nickel and dime on taking things out to reduce cost, brainless and autopilot work for an engr CEO.
@TroyTeslike Elon’s claim of manufacturing edge is very short sighted. He needs to focus Tesla on car software ecosystem not just FSD. Software will be the only maintainable differentiation.
