What you’re seeing is the palmar grasp reflex a powerful primitive reflex present in all healthy newborns.

When something touches their palm, their fingers automatically close tightly around it. This is an evolutionary leftover that helped babies cling to their mothers. In the video, the doctor demonstrates just how strong it can be… then cleverly “disarms” the baby.

He does a quick, controlled drop of the upper body (while fully supporting the baby) and immediately catches him again. This triggers the Moro reflex (the startle reflex).

During the Moro response, the baby’s arms fly open and the hands unclench releasing the stethoscope. Both reflexes are completely normal and are routinely checked by doctors as part of the newborn neurological exam. The grasp reflex usually fades by 5–6 months as voluntary control develops.

It’s over. I’m quitting design.

A client of mine just created a logo with Fable 5, and the result left me speechless.

It understood the brand story, values, audience, strategy, and turned all of it into a smart, minimal symbol. A genuinely brilliant concept. The kind of idea that captures everything at once. Something I honestly don’t think I would have come up with myself.

And it didn’t just nail the idea. It executed the design pixel-perfectly.

So I raise the white flag.

My skepticism about AI’s ability to do great design is officially gone.

There, I said it:

AI beat me at design.

Now that AI finally took my job, I can peacefully quit and dedicate my life to studying the only thing it may never achieve: human consciousness and the pathways to God.

Teargas in a Hospital, a Thoughtless Act.

I have just read the recent troubling reports of how the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly stormed the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in a bid to arrest Professor Eyo Ekpe, a professor of cardiothoracic surgery and deputy chairman of the hospital’s medical advisory committee.

While I understand and respect the fact that the EFCC, and indeed, all other government agencies have their constitutional rights to do their jobs without interference, the manner in which some of these jobs are carried out is often deeply troubling.

Reportedly, the EFCC operatives who stormed the hospital shot some teargas canisters within the hospital premises which sent medical staff and patients running for safety. This thoughtless act greatly compromised the general safety in the hospital environment and further jeopardised the health of the medical personnel and the sick people in the hospital.

I have always said that the most fundamental intangible asset upon which any nation functions effectively is the rule of law and order. The disorderliness allegedly demonstrated by the EFCC operatives at the hospital must not be encouraged. Nothing justifies the use of teargas canisters in a fragile hospital environment. Do we not realise that our hospitals are part of our most critical contributors to development?

We must also learn to respect the lives and dignity of our citizens. If a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery is arrested in such a demeaning manner in a hospital environment, what signals are we sending to other medical professionals working hard to keep our health sector afloat? It is reported that Nigeria has only 80 cardiothoracic surgeons serving its 230 million people, and the Prof Eyo Ekpe is the only one in Akwa Ibom State.

Let us learn to do better. Let us condemn and eschew the rascality and disorderliness that have continued to characterise some of our public offices and bring in civility in the discharge of our duties.

EFCC officers came in some minutes past 9 this morning looking for our dear Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

At the time, he was in surgery working on a patient and asked them to hold on, but they didn’t. Instead, they dragged him out, brutalized him, and dragged him on the ground into their bus.

Not only did they do that to him, but also to the CMAC of UUTH. He wasn’t even given a chance. The security at the gate locked the entrance, and doctors came out angrily, parking cars to block them from leaving the hospital.

These inhumane people, who honestly need proper training after the police and military, opened tear gas, fired bullets, and rained chaos everywhere. In fact, permit me to add that a senior officer among them was allegedly telling his teammates to shoot at the angry crowd.

In a hospital???

With patients and doctors around???

They broke the padlock, caused serious commotion and traffic in the area. I truly thank God for my life, but from what I later heard, a stray bullet hit someone and the person died.

Currently, UUTH is shutting down. We were asked to go home. Patients are being forced to leave. A strike is imminent. If you have any relatives there, please do well to check up on them immediately.

Things are getting serious, and it will not get better until we stand up and fight this injustice.

If it was a politician with the same years of experience as these professors, they would never have been treated this way.

I have attached evidence.

Please, this should spread everywhere.

Armed, masked police men are currently in University of Uyo Teaching Hospital. They came, went to the Deputy CMAC’s office and dragged out a whole professor of medicine like a thief, they beat up and threatened to shoot staffs who tried intervening. The hospital gate has been shut down, medics and non medical staff have blocked the gate.
