@aniruddh_mohan@NatBullard Very interesting Nat but how much is really known about the fine print in these deals, like under what circumstances must Meta provide these funds, does Meta have (free?) exit options if the plants’ first power is delayed, what prices are set per MWh? And more…
A bit of an apples-to-oranges comparison but still a very interesting perspective on the transportation of energy. Thank you to @IEA for providing this report with a lot of useful insights!
The shift from fossil fuel imports to clean technology imports can improve the resilience of energy supply
A large container ship of solar panels can provide the means to produce as much electricity as the gas from over 50 large LNG tankers or the coal from over 100 large ships
5) Realistic and comprehensive project schedules for deploying new nuclear in new countries like Norway, including steps like setting up a competent regulatory body and all licencing processes (site, technology, production, spent fuel storage etc). #nuclearsympo
Looking forward to this week's World Nuclear Symposium #nuclearsympo in London. Some of the topics I hope to learn more about, in light of intensifying energy transition discussions in Norway and elsewhere:
1) Understand this picture better (source @BloombergNEF):
4) Better understand the supply chains for critical nuclear components and the different uranium types including Haleu. Which #SMR require which fuels? What is the outlook for western players to break Tenex' hold on this market? (Source: @BloombergNEF, @bnefnuc) #nuclearsympo
Nuclear power projects are binary: Success or humbling failure? Did you know that of all the world's 820 nuclear projects ever come to advanced construction, 92 have later been abandoned, at a cost some times of several $ billion? A 🧵

In this short thread I glance at a handful of abandoned or failed #nuclear projects. Disclaimer: While I am NOT a nuclear expert, I think it is safe to say future project developers and financiers should read up diligently on the topic of what lies behind these failures.
