@VicinageClause@GSVBemusementPk "On 20 June 2001, President Boris Trajkovski sent a letter to Lord Robertson, the then NATO Secretary General, to request NATO assistance in keeping civil war at bay."
They came on request of the macedonian government to collect the weapons. This hardly counts as an "invasion"
@rskhm__@alt_ccc@axiochrono Yeah. No. That is only guaranteed if one wins 50 or more percent in the first round. I bet there is a third candidate that would win a runoff against both of them
@incitafusio@ejzim I'm sorry, maybe I am misunderstandkng you, but can you - mathematically - explain to me where the difference is between an instant runoff and a two round runoff? Why would the latter system yield a more legitimized winner than the first one?
@XisTheNewTwiter@fl4ree234@bdeyal1@2700chess@ReykjavikOpen The more contributing factors are player demographics. It could very well be, that the top player in 20 years will again only have a 2750 rating again. However, chances are, that he will still be much better than a 2800+ rated player from today.
@XisTheNewTwiter@fl4ree234@bdeyal1@2700chess@ReykjavikOpen I am not arguing against the fact that todays players are stronger than 30 years ago. Of course they are. This will always be the case. But again, the Elo rating method does not work on an absolute scale. It can only be viewed in the context of the time of its computation.
@fl4ree234@XisTheNewTwiter@bdeyal1@2700chess@ReykjavikOpen Yeah, but elo ratings are not absolute. They are only able to estimate the relative differences between player strength, not on an absolute scale. So a 2700 rating today is not comparable to a 2700 rating from 1990.
@XisTheNewTwiter@bdeyal1@2700chess@ReykjavikOpen What makes you think that? There are 30+ players right now that are rated 2700+. Until 30 years ago, there were only six players who have ever reached that number.
@Andrew_S_Becker@DeepNotShallow Where is the difference? The results of first past the post are equivalent to first round results of rcv. What do you mean they are not counted?
@Andrew_S_Becker@DeepNotShallow In the graphic you shared: I don't understand, why ballot exhaustion after 3 or more rounds for rcv is considered worse than wasted votes, i.e. ballot exhaustion after the first round?
