PCOS has a new name. It will now be known as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS). A change that accurately reflects the condition affecting 3.1 million women and girls in the UK. This is the largest global engagement ever for a medical name change.
NEWS🚨 | A clinical service evaluation from diabetes experts in Leicester has highlighted the impact of targeted care for people with early‑onset type 2 diabetes (#EOTD).
The #NIHRBRCLeicester researchers invited 159 type 2 diabetic patients with an average age of 34 to a multi-disciplinary clinic that used flexible delivery and person-centred care.
Published today in @DiabMedJournal, they found the service was associated with meaningful improvements in blood sugar control, body weight and blood pressure for the patients.
❗️The study supports urgent scale‑up of tailored services for early‑onset type 2 diabetes - a group facing high complication risk at a young age.
