Ah … The Civil Service Code explicitly says civil servants must NOT…

“allow your personal political views to determine any advice you give or your actions”or …
“frustrate the implementation of policies once decisions are taken”.

But it’s perfectly fine for Home Office staff working on Britain’s immigration system to volunteer with an organisation actively trying to CHANGE government asylum policy and reportedly trying to fudge parts of it.
