SOCIAL MEDIA WARS UPDATE:
For me specifically, the social media platform “wars” are pretty much over, in that I’ve figured out my general intentions.
Mastodon had a good start and a good audience but stopped growing a while ago.
I don’t find Threads that useable, and there are other issues too.
I’ll still post on those two, but they won’t be my focus.
LinkedIn has gotten surprisingly good with a specific audience, and I’ll do more there.
But it’s clear to me that the official alternative to Twitter/X and likely successor is Blu#sky.
Whatever you decide to do here (I’m still staying for the moment and continuing to observe/assess, but my activity level and approach will be changing), I hope to see you at Blu#sky too.
I still see every single day how incredibly important social media is to the struggle for better cities and city-building.
Don’t give up on it. Make it work for you.

She's right on the lane width part! Narrower lanes make us feel less safe when we're driving, so we respond by driving more slowly, which results in everyone being safer.
Nobody likes other people's cars. So in response we keep building infrastructure that ensures we will get more other people's cars.
Then we blame housing for all the other people's cars.
I have been door knocking this season asking about needs in the community. The single most hated thing is other people’s cars: the speeding, the noise, the parking, the traffic, the visual clutter. Stop confusing a handful of noisy cranks for majority opinion. People want places.
It's not every day a legend like @dongho_chang shows up at your city hall but when he does you better believe @ramialkabra and I are going to get a selfie
