The #ElectoramaNews for January has been published, featuring an explanation of #RCV ("ranked-choice voting") in #Alaska , and the battle that's been raging between @Alaskans4BE and @repealnowak (and their respective allies/predecessors) for years:

If you want to change the world, no other position, in any other organization, is as transformative as this one. Why? 🧵
Sometimes it seems like voters are crazy, voting in politicians that don't represent them well. But it's not their fault. Choose-one-voting is broken. With STAR Voting, Approval Voting, or Ranked Robin, voters can vote their conscience safely.
Tomorrow at 4pm PST/7pm EST, please join the Forward Party community, @VoterChoiceAZ, @ElectionScience and @TheEqualVote for a deep dive into the nuances of RCV, STAR voting, and Approval voting. Mark your calendars!!🎙️🎧

Tennessee is now experiencing what a majority of our states are dangerously close to: a gerrymandered one-party system which has eliminated all credible competition.
48% of voters in Tennessee identify as or lean Republican, yet the GOP holds 82% of TN State Senate seats and 76% of State House seats. Think about that disparity between the People of Tennessee and what the political system has warped their views into.
“Gerrymandering is a silly word. Let’s call it what it is: rigging elections.” — @RickKennedyTX17
@sami_baaj It’s also kind of funny because what they’re describing is not really a parliamentary system, just legislators trying to…actually do their job lol?
If AOC was like “Congress should pick the President, not the people”, then it would be parliamentary.
When it comes to electing the winner that would beat all the other candidates in a one-on-one race, #ApprovalVoting works better than plurality voting, runoffs, AND #rankedchoicevoting. READ MORE: https://t.co/JAO176jWbf
Did you know that #RankedChoiceVoting, you could cause your most-hated candidate to win by ranking your honest favorite first? In some cases, you'd be better off staying home than voting for your honest favorite in an #RCV election. READ MORE: https://t.co/B2KkdTq0uY
@bettercount_us 1/6: @bettercount_us the kick-in-the-pants that you gave me to migrate @electowiki over to the @Miraheze infrastructure many years ago helped. The thoughtful response helps too. I know composing something thoughtful that's short enough for Tweets is difficult. #TwitterMigration
There’s apparently a long running back-and-forth in Norway on allowing crossing out candidates on lists (like approval voting but negative).
The argument against is that it makes it harder for young people, women, and immigrants to get elected.
Not a good night for alternative voting in my opinion.

RCV doesn't do what you think it does, bud.

@MileenaUltra Ranked Choice Voting specifically is a step backwards for the US right now. There are plenty of other voting methods reforms I support, but RCV is not one of them.
