@Ken_Shabbby@DebtCrisisOrg Exploring the “could” is how we get to “does.” If either one even half pans out, it could be game-changing. As for PSLF, it’s great in theory, but it is being terribly mismanaged and undermined. Expanding on it could be a great start, but there are massive issues with edu loans.
@Ken_Shabbby@DebtCrisisOrg Doctors are not the only people who are required to operate our hospitals.
Many docs have salaries less than their total debt load, so even doc jobs aren’t a guaranteed ride on the gravy train.
Many medical innovations have come from the studies you’re insinuating are BS.
New study from France:
28 million adults 18–59 years old.
✅ NO increase in all-cause mortality 4 years after mRNA vaccine.
✅ -74 % of deaths related to Covid-19 among the vaccinated.
mRNA Covid vaccines saved lives.
Because of science:
Your mother survived childbirth. You never got polio. You’ve never seen smallpox. Your friend with type 1 diabetes is alive. That infection you had? Antibiotics cured it.
We don’t live longer because of luck. We live longer because science works.
Newborn hepatitis B vaccines prevent acute AND chronic illness AND save lives.
90% of hepatitis B infections in kids become chronic hepatitis.
Chronic hepatitis causes 60% of liver cancers.
Hepatitis B is NOT just sexually transmitted, it spreads via bodily fluid contact.

@JonesForAR Education. A well educated population will make better policy decisions about many other things, will have more innovation, will find more ways to improve our lives, will provide economic ladders to the underserved, and will increase community and connection with our neighbors.
@antoinettePFPT@AndresEdFragoso@Polymarket Also quite true, and another reason why even if you “do the research,” it is sometimes not enough. HCW are being thrown under the bus compared to the projections given to us earlier, and DOE is even working to restrict PSLF and further renege on the promises made to many of them.
@AndresEdFragoso@antoinettePFPT@Polymarket Parents and financial advisors were working from a framework that projected increased incomes for these grads. If these grads actually made the money they were supposed to be making at the jobs that were supposed to be there for them, this would be less of an issue.
@Sneaky_Ghillie@Suzierizzo1 The Z is likely the Zips from the University of Akron, which is nearby. Not happy that anyone wearing that hat has anything to do with this, but for context..
@BoringBiz_ No predatory interest/capitalization. Everyone gets forgiveness after a certain time paying on an income based plan. Payments can be pre-tax through an expanded 529. #PSLF goes to 5 years, with incremental forgiveness so that we can actually encourage public service.
@BodyRecompExprt@9mmsmg There’s a bunch of people in #PSLF who should already have their debt gone by that standard. Instead, the current admin wants to make it harder to qualify, harder to even apply, and harder to afford while you’re paying your dues. We are screwing our public servants.
The EPA plans to reverse the ban on forever chemicals in drinking water.
Now states are rushing to pass their own laws.
At least 250 bills to regulate the hazardous chemicals have been introduced this year in more than two dozen states.
@georg3@samstein#PSLF is also conditional, and for jobs that benefit the public. Why not make it easier to apply so as to entice people to take lower paying jobs and/or to stay with them? If you make it difficult, you’re just pushing people to chase money in the private sector.
@adamscottmiller@samstein If that’s the case, why would the current administration also go after #PSLF? Why not make it easier to apply so as to entice people to take lower paying jobs and/or to stay with them? If you make it difficult, you’re just pushing people to chase money in the private sector.
@DrJoelGator For a highly contagious disease, a 3% exemption can be enough to overcome herd immunity and promote mutation. Likewise, public health experts should not be kneecapped by having to constantly argue the negative against people who use junk science to further a political narrative.
