“The end of an 18-month programme is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of a stronger generation of women peacebuilders.”
YOWPSUD hosted the final #MwanamkeImara mentorship session in Kilifi County, marking the close of an 18-month journey of growth, leadership, and commitment to peacebuilding and security.
Beyond the lessons learned and capacities strengthened, the journey has inspired new commitments to sustain peace. A key milestone was the development of a Peace Charter by women serving in the County Peace Committee, which will be used to engage aspiring political leaders and secure their commitment to observe and promote peace before, during, and after elections.
This is more than a programme outcome; it is a step towards strengthening women’s leadership in peacebuilding and fostering a culture of peaceful political participation across Kilifi County.
As #MwanamkeImara concludes, the commitment to peace continues, carried forward by women ready to lead, influence, and champion a more peaceful future.

A journey of growth, courage, and transformation! 🌸
YOWPSUD hosted the final mentorship session under the #MwanamkeImara project, marking the close of an impactful 18-month journey of strengthening women’s leadership in PCVE.
With support from @CanHCKenya through @SFCG_Ke, women have strengthened their capacity to champion peace and security frameworks, access leadership platforms, and shape safer, more inclusive communities.
In Kwale, the impact is taking root. Women are increasingly exercising leadership, trust between communities and security actors is growing, reporting is improving, and inter-county collaboration among security agencies is taking shape.
As this chapter closes, the journey continues. #MwanamkeImara has laid a foundation for women to lead, influence, and champion sustainable peace. The seeds planted over 18 months are already bearing fruit, and the future holds even greater possibilities.

Happy to connect with students from @UniLeiden, @erasmusuni and @tudelft during a PCVE engagement at @PU_Kilifi, hosted by @yadeneastafric with support from @NLinKenya. 🤝🕊️
I represented @YOWPSUD_ in this inter-university exchange, actively contributing to discussions and co-creating peace messaging with students. This engagement aligns with YOWPSUD’s Peace and Security Portfolio and our role in the County Engagement Forum in supporting the implementation of Kenya’s NSPCVE.
Together, we champion youth participation, community cohesion and collaborative approaches to preventing violent extremism and sustaining peace.
