Today marks 105 years since the Tulsa Race Massacre—one of the most violent and horrific acts of racial violence in American history—destroying Black Wall Street and the Greenwood District neighborhood by burning homes and businesses and killing Black Tulsans. We honor and remember the lives lost and communities destroyed on May 31, 1921, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

And we can never forget, even when our state’s history makes us uncomfortable. On this day, we are reminded of why knowing the truth and telling the truth are important for all of us to move forward. It's such a harmful Christian theology that looks at wars and famine and says, "This might be the fulfillment of End Times prophecies!" and "Jesus might be retuning soon!" instead of "look at how much people are suffering” and “how can we stop this injustice?"

The strategy of a “double-tap” strike, bombing first, waiting, and bombing again, is to kill survivors, rescuers, civilians and emergency medical workers. This is why the Geneva Conventions define this double-tapping as a potential war crime.

In the case of the school in Minab, the US in the second strike was killing parents in horror over the children being killed in a surprise attack and trying to find them.

This is the greatest number of civilians killed by the US military since the My Lai Massacre in the Vietnam War.
