Ex-Reserves Manager at Hants Wildlife Trust now in Devon setting up a smallholding. Happily still involved with heaths at Tweseldown helping it’s recovery.
@Bewickwren@seengwildfiregp@Cal_OES It is too late to plan for today’s #wildfires , however next years wildfires are far enough away that precautionary and preventative measures can start ASAP.
@Firesnapper999@essexforester @Hants_fire @hfrs_control @Rushmoor02@HartleyWintney8 @fleet04 @RyanHFRS Last year I reduced massively the amount of horse on this site and widened firebreaks to increase fire resilience. Did it work and did it help you guys?
@savebutterflies please can you help us this caterpillar. There are hundreds of them dropping from an ornamental oak onto a school playground in Devon and teachers are worried it’s toxic to touch
@ann_annconquest @TweseldownHT It was in the final 50-100m aswell of an entire site transact. Interesting thing is the place it was on was where scrub was cleared last winter so promising!
Carried out a #grayling#butterfly count on @TweseldownHT today to act as baseline before winter works. Saw 1!!!! Looks like scrub removal and bare ground creation can’t come soon enough. Lots of common blues
@essexforester @hfrs_control @ForestryComm Perhaps it is time to rethink the approach if the 100 year old message is still not getting through. Bigger 🥕 and even bigger stick!!!!
It's not just our open heaths that are at risk of #wildfire in the current weather conditions, our #forestry#plantation sites are as well. Please take the usual precautions and any signs of smoke do dial 999 immediately. @ForestryCommEng@ForestryComm
