I’m helping a company build a VERY big React app by composing many separate React projects.
19 teams, and growing!
I just audited the projects and there’s a number of differences between the projects:
Lint rules
Form libraries
Router versions
tsconfig settings
State management libraries
Data fetching and caching approaches
That's a problem. Here's why: The more consistent our projects are, the more code we can share, and the easier it is to move between projects.
To all the companies calling people back to the office full-time: Don't mistake presence for performance.
Showing up is not a sign of commitment or contribution. It's an act of compliance.
What matters is the value people create, not the place they inhabit.
@Londonist I worked in Bermondsey and lived in Cricklewood once upon a time, sometimes it'd walk back home from work in the summer just 'cause it was nice... Never measured the distance tho, so idk if it qualifies, it took over an hour but I was never in a rush so 🤷🏽♀️
