Had a few Qs recently about getting industry or consultancy part-time work during your PhD... I found this is a little-often discussed or taught topic.
Heard a couple of horror stories about people working up to 10 (!) hours a week for companies with *no pay*... (1/2)
I have two jobs. Both are about the same thing. Co-create innovative solutions to very difficult problems, test them with practitioners, and then pitch them to peers. Both jobs take years and years to succeed in. Luckily there are strong synergies!

Just heard an interview with James Evans on why science innovation is slowing down despite a great increase of papers and scientists (https://t.co/H8C9hcvZFg). I find his findings very insightful and I urge funding agencies and institutes to pay attention to his work. (1/n)
