And suddenly, I no longer dream of being someoneโs girlfriend or imagine the wedding dress Iโll wear someday. All those feelings have faded. I donโt want love anymore. Iโm tired of believing in it, tired of what it made me become. Love didnโt make me feel cherished; it made me feel like a fool for having such a genuine heart.
Most CPTSD survivors are not trying to get back to who they were "before" the trauma. There may not have BEEN a "before." Most of us are constructing a new version of ourselves from scratch-- & that's complicated.
Be patient w/ yourself when becoming someone you've never been.
CPTSD is sitting alone on your birthday and telling yourself you like it this way. Itโs convincing yourself you donโt need anyone when the truth is, you needed people deeply once and they werenโt there for you. So you learned to stop needing them before they could be the ones to leave first. The loneliness you choose can still feel safer than the abandonment you never chose.
@CaptainCabinetz Why do so many people cheat? I don't understand it. Is it just inevitable that one partner will cheat on the other? I'm really starting to wonder if monogamy is real
