Enough is enough. Time for a ceasefire now.
This week all UN Security Council members—except one—were united in calling for a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire. As did Ukraine.
Russia remains the only obstacle to peace. We urge it to abide by UNSC members' call. Now.
🇺🇦 Ukraine is growing stronger. And it has the innovation edge. Ukraine has become a security provider for Europe and for partners in the Gulf. Ukraine is succeeding in liberating territory.
When will Russia understand that its war of aggression is going nowhere?

Šī nedēļa, vairākkārt, ir labi nodemonstrējusi, kāpēc būt ANO Drošības padomē, pie visa ANO kopejā vājuma, joprojām ir noderīgi. Nav labākas platformas no kuras vari izplatīt savu vēstījumu visām pasaules valstīm. Ja tev nav masīva vēstniecību tīkla kā Krievijai, jāizmanto ANO DP
At today’s joint meeting hosted by the Presidents of the General Assembly @UN_PGA and the United Nations Economic and Social Council @UNECOSOC special meeting on digital inclusion, innovation, and youth entrepreneurship, 🇱🇻 Latvia underscored:
📲 🧑🏽💻👩💻The vital role of young people in driving innovation;
🌍 The focus of its development cooperation across Africa, Central Asia, and the Eastern Neighbourhood on promoting #STEM, tech education, and digital and entrepreneurial skills, 🙋♀️ alongside advancing the full participation and leadership of women and girls;
🎓 The importance of fostering a lifelong learning mindset, supported by policymakers, educational institutions, and peers alike.
At the #UNSC briefing on Ukraine, Latvia underscored:
⚫️ Predictably, yet regrettably, the Russian leadership has escalated its barbaric brutality.
⚫️ Since February 2022, Russia has launched a staggering number of aerial attacks against Ukraine: at least ❗️94,344 ❗️long-range strike drones and missiles.
⚫️ As verified by the WHO, Russia has conducted at least 2,881 attacks affecting healthcare facilities, ambulances, and medical warehouses.
⚫️ Russia’s war is a war against the Ukrainian nation and its freedom. It aims to destroy Ukraine’s state, culture, history, and language.
👉 Russia can end this war and the civilian suffering immediately. If Ukraine stopped defending itself, it would be the end of Ukraine.
🇱🇻 This is why Latvia firmly stands with Ukraine, its sovereignty, political independence, and territorial integrity.
‼️ An immediate, full, and unconditional ceasefire is the first step.
‼️ We call on all countries to exert maximum pressure on Russia so it meaningfully engages in the peace process.

"It is important to highlight a disturbing pattern – the closer we come to peace and justice, the more brazen the attacks and lies by the Russian Federation become. [..]We urge all Members of this Council to uphold their responsibility and recognize the actor obstructing peace and act accordingly. ”
