@stivevans@haynesdeborah@RachelReevesMP No. Lots of Other Ranks take up CEA because they too are required to move for their jobs and most have children! It is these serving personnel who will be most affected by this new policy as they are most likely to be scraping by in order to provide stability for their children.
The NHS may be broken, according to @UKLabour@wesstreeting, but here’s how to fix it.
Prevention, Prevention, Prevention, Prevention….
1. Prevent poverty. It’s the single biggest determinant of ill health, and health and social care demand, both now and in the future. Blair and Brown made good progress in reducing it. So it can be done.
2. Prevent illness, with a relentless focus on living well, self-care, mental health support and tackling the commercial determinants of illness. Dental disease is the commonest cause of childhood operations, and yet it’s almost 100% preventable.
3. Prevent existing risks and diseases getting worse, with evidence-based screening and a substantial shift in resources to primary, community and social care
4. Preventing waste and medical harm, by ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, from the right people at the right time. This is the toughest nut to crack, as it requires adequate numbers of well trained and well rested staff working in safe, clean environments with the right equipment. We currently spent three times as much litigating harms from maternity care than we do on maternity care. This is a permanent disaster and would be a very good place to start. Instead of repeating our mistakes, we need to learn from them.

@MartinSLewis @pollymackenzie I'm not sure this question is framed right. As a working parent of U18s, I think the summer holidays are too long, but actually think we need to restructure the academic year. It's currently very unbalanced with a long autumn term, and a spring term oddly dependent on Easter.
@bobbiejjohns @RevRichardColes Yes, just as us, although my mum was originally from South Wales (Dad a native Lancastrian). We grew up near Preston though, so clearly beef infiltrated fairly widely!
@MartinSLewis Walkers are the only cheese and onion crisps worth bothering with. The rest can go in the bin along with prawn cocktail and chicken flavoured crisps!!
Scotland's Hate Crime Act comes into effect today. Women gain no additional protections, of course, but well-known trans activist Beth Douglas, darling of prominent Scottish politicians, falls within a protected category. Phew! 1/11
@youngvulgarian Yes, that was me. Didn't eat loads of veg until I was un my 30s and now actively enjoy cauliflower, sprouts, beans, cabbage etc. Even a salad sometimes! No idea what changed but I was the world's fussiest child and now eat everything!
@mod_dio@TheStoicSailor@PinnacleSF@VIVODefence Please can you tell us how you expect Ideal to know who to write to and why you are not getting involved directly? This feels like you are passing the buck to the occupiers who do not hold the responsibility for maintenance of SFA.
We have not received a letter!
@PinnacleSF@TheStoicSailor@VIVODefence@mod_dio Well we haven't been. Not sure why it's our responsibility to find out that our boiler is affected and then to deal with it. I don't own the wretched thing (and yes, we've had issues with it!)
@AdamRutherford My very first experience of GCSE English Lit was writing an essay on the first chapter of the Mayor of Casterbridge. Put me off for life!
@Andymb28@MilitaryBanter Utter b*ll*x. I've had dry rot, damp, water in the electrics, asbestos, shot double glazing, trees undermining the garage (which I was lucky to have tho!), fences falling down... and the list goes on. All SFA is poorly maintained. We have been shouting about it for years.
