canceling plans is ok. changing your entire look is ok. chasing an ancient instinct to swim thousands of miles upstream to return to your natal waters just to reproduce once and die so that your carcass can sustain an entire ecosystem is ok. do whatever you need to do to cope.
Briefly logging back on to say:
Hey! I'm defending in two weeks and you're invited! Email me if you want the zoom info (don't DM - I'm logging back off!)
@PeterLeeDPT I’ve had progress before with similar issues (though on a smaller scale) when we opened a case with the health inspector. They documented everything and were very helpful communicating to the landlord what his legal responsibilities were. This was in MA tho (strong tenant rights)
New resource alert - we just released "Field safety! an e-zine by and for trans and queer scientists". Includes resources and advice for queer field safety based on first-hand experiences of TGnC Field Alliance members! #QueerinSTEM#Ecology#DEI https://t.co/uSKvJFJW5g
@seismogenic I didn’t do in-person, but I paid for expedited processing, overnighted it to the processing center, and pre-paid for them to overnight it back. This was spring 2021 when they were super backed up but I think I got it back in ~3 weeks!
Providing demographic data for NSF: Actually, I do wish to provide my gender, but your survey does not include nonbinary scientists. You are not accurately assessing diversity when you erase queer and transgender scientists. @ISNBS_#QueerinSTEM
@aquariuschicken It does look cute but what’s really stretching it for me is the idea that two semi-responsible dog owners in Seattle don’t have their dogs fixed??? Like truly I cannot remember anyone’s dog having puppies my entire childhood
What’s all the fuss about “social field safety” and safe fieldwork experiences for ALL? Well, here are some examples from my fieldwork studying the #RCWoodpecker that may help.
