@KateHFellows @glam_cares Yes this… I’ll be sneaking in after the start as I couldn’t face getting up any earlier than 5.30 😵 could get to London more easily than Birmingham which makes no sense!
Heading to Birmingham for today’s @glam_cares conference in wellbeing @ care in the cultural sector, excited to catch up with colleagues & for a great programme of talks & conversations https://t.co/iIb1EuQ1G7
@mkatemaynard@arnieskelton Thanks Melissa. Glad it’s resonated with you. 20+ years ago when I worked for a national museum Arnie ran an in-house training programme. I still use the lessons from that today. Great to know he’s still sharing wisdom! Too many museums operate at the outer edges of goodwill
Some really powerful debate #museums2023 on workforce wellbeing with @glam_cares and @TamsinRussell including discussion of the stigma attached to not being seen to cope. I wrote this piece on burnout & saying no after conference 2021, still feels relevant https://t.co/oqTrvvu5EE
In a session about disposal #Museums2023 and reflecting that in the 25 years I’ve worked in museums we’ve periodically talked about the crisis in collecting and how museums just have Too Much Stuff. It’s not a new conversation and what interests me is why so little has changed
Important message for anyone joining us for our social event at @GNM_Hancock this evening 🚨
WiFi and card readers are down at the museum so all delegates are advised to *please bring cash*.
Please RT so we can get the word out!

Massive congratulations @Hull_Museums@WilberforceHull@AliBodley on the Museums Change Lives Decolonising Museums award #museums2023. Amazing to see how far this work has since we worked on the strategy during lockdown
Discussion of need for joined-up evidence compliant with Treasury Green Book to advocate better for museums in Whitehall #Museums2023. Wondering who would take on this work to avoid fragmentation & duplication of effort https://t.co/aJKyge5nyz
Great session on poverty proofing museums #museums2023. Much of advice seems to come down to listening to lived experience, identify hidden barriers, above all don’t make assumptions. Still wondering how we square real change with declining budgets & cost pressures
