The on-chain yield economy will expand. We will move from a few quality yield products to many competing options. We will see new asset types, governance structures, terms and others. As the complexity grows the average user will struggle to allocate.
For the disinflation parameter, don't believe that simplicity is a good enough argument for the magnitude of change. Would expect a bit of discussion and syndication on the number to get the proposal over the line.
Regarding the ramp-up: fair enough. Expect this to be underappreciated.
Indeed we need to discuss the inflation and its the correct focus point for Solana.
I like the current proposal much more than SIMD-228. It's simple to communicate and requires literally one parameter to upgrade, with no protocol change needed. It will decrease inflation, which will pressure validators' economics, but that is the point.
Couple of things worth discussion:
- Why is the 30% disinflation correct adjustment in parameter. (i.e. why not 45% or 10%).
- Is the ramp up quick enough? The SIMD has a long ramp up and the real effect will be 2 years from the approval which might by end of 2028 (too little too late).

Last week one of the biggest DeFi exploits ever happened on Solana.
Now that some of the dust has settled, I wanted to share a recap of how things played out on our end and what it means going forward ⬇️
A major bad actor in the entire situation was @circle.
6 hours to even do something. They allowed 1/4 of a day for the team behind the @DriftProtocol to move funds from SOL to ETH.
We can’t let this not be known. They need to fix up there act.
Back to the investigation.
