We strongly condemn the horrific mass shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach targeting members of the Jewish community gathered for Hanukkah. We mourn the innocent lives lost, pray for the injured, and stand for religious freedom, unity, and safety for all. Read statement here: https://t.co/CcuOxBhZvg
The Alliance for Shared Values condemns the violent shooting that targeted two National Guard members in Washington, D.C. We grieve for the victims and stand with their families and communities as they navigate this painful time. Violence of any kind undermines the safety, dignity, and peace we strive to uphold. We reaffirm our commitment to fostering a society grounded in nonviolence, respect, and the protection of every human life.
I am here as a legal immigrant who went through the process because I truly believe in America’s promise of freedom and democracy.🇺🇸
This country has given me a home,
This country has given me a family,
A voice so I can speak freely without fear,
A purpose to stand up for human rights and freedom,
A future filled with hope and opportunity,
An education both in the classroom and in life,
A team of brothers who battled with me on and off the court,
A community of people from all walks of life who embraced me,
A platform to defend the voiceless and fight for justice,
A responsibility to give back and protect the values I love,
A dream that I was told was impossible elsewhere,
And a sense of belonging, a place where I can say “this is home.”
This country has given me so much, and I’m grateful every day for the values it stands for. I believe that anyone who comes here should share that respect for America’s freedoms. If someone hates America, hates its flag, and hates what this nation stands for, then they should not belong here. It’s about protecting the spirit of freedom and democracy that makes America home for those who truly value it.
Heartbroken to hear about the two National Guard members shot in Washington D.C.
My heart is with their families tonight.
Their loved ones wore the uniform of the United States of America with pride and honor. These heroes stood ready to defend our freedom.
No family who gives so much to this nation should ever face this suffering. 🇺🇸
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Father Thomas F. Michel, S.J., a towering figure in Catholic–Muslim dialogue and a longtime friend of Fethullah Gülen Hocaefendi and the Hizmet community.
His life’s work in advancing understanding, peace, and interreligious solidarity touched countless hearts. Read our full press release here: https://t.co/DCpeYuYx3V
Orlando Representative Anna Eskamani shared a heartfelt message, thanking everyone who helped make the Thanksgiving Food Drive a true success.
Thanks to the generosity of so many, donations were delivered to multiple organizations — including Conway Community Market, Christian Service Center Orlando, The Desire Foundation, and the Eatonville Chamber.
She also offered a special thanks to the Atlantic Institute and its dedicated volunteers for their meaningful support.
This is what real community looks like — people lifting each other up.

Adam Silver needs to step down immediately!
When the league floods the sport with gambling money, pretends it’s harmless, then acts shocked when players take the bait… that’s not innocence, that’s negligence.
You plant a seed, you own the roots.
For the players;
All money isn’t good money.
People watch this sport because they believe the game is real and fair. Families spend their money, they bring their kids, and they want to know the players on the floor are giving an honest effort.
When you’re in this league, it’s bigger than you. Your name, your family, your future, they’re all tied to every choice you make.
You’re not just risking a season. You’re risking your career, your freedom, and your reputation. That’s not a game. That’s your life.
1/ The verdict has come back in the “Girls’ Trial” in Istanbul, where 41 girls and women were charged with terrorism based on their participation in routine social and religious activities, such as gathering for prayer. https://t.co/gLUqBAnhJx
Ibrahim Güngör, a 72-year-old political prisoner in Turkey has died after being forced to serve his sentence despite severe illness.
Suffering from Alzheimer’s, hydrocephalus (with a brain shunt), prostate disease, and diabetes, Güngör had already forgotten he was in prison and could not even recognize his own daughter during visits.
Despite his critical condition, the Forensic Institute declared him “fit for prison.” He was re-arrested in December 2024 after his sentence was upheld by the Court of Cassation.
Under international norms, keeping a terminally ill, elderly man behind bars in such conditions constitutes cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment — in other words, torture.
The Erdoğan regime bears responsibility for his death.

AST is honored and humbled to receive the Best Documentary Award at the Amsterdam New Cinema Film Festival for METAMORPHOSIS: Women’s Resilience to Oppression in Türkiye.
We are deeply grateful for this recognition—and for the chance to amplify the silenced voices of women who courageously resist oppression and violence.
Full Update on the “Girls’ Trial” in Turkey – July 18, 2025:
Today’s hearing was expected to conclude with a final verdict, but was derailed when the presiding judge abruptly withdrew. A substitute and external judge were hastily appointed, prompting strong objections from defense attorneys over serious procedural violations. Most lawyers refused to present final defenses under these conditions, and many defendants followed suit. Meanwhile, the prosecutor repeatedly left and re-entered the courtroom—violating protocol and further casting doubt on the legitimacy of the proceedings.
These 41 women—on trial for peaceful religious acts like Qur’an study, prayer, and hosting faith gatherings—must now wait until Sept 18–19 for a possible verdict.
We’re especially grateful to @rebecca_cataldi (@ICRD_NGO) and @AndreaJilBarron (@TASSCintl) for attending the hearing in Istanbul to monitor the trial and stand in solidarity.
Nearly 400 faith leaders, NGOs, and scholars have signed a multi-faith letter calling for full acquittal, condemnation of Turkey’s misuse of anti-terror laws, and international monitoring. Global attention and sustained pressure are more vital than ever.

Hergün yazacağım:
Cezaevlerinde 15 Temmuz bahanesiyle müebbet hüküm giymiş 3000 kişi var!
Bu insanlar çürüyor, aileleri perişan!
Bunu önemseyen herkes elini taşın altına koymalı, bu korkunç sorun için çözüm üretmeye çalışmalı!
Onları kaderine terk edemeyiz!
Bu bir feryattır!
