How many of the 51 Best Places to See #Scotland's #Geology have you visited?
As 2023 draws to a close, we'd love to know! Tell us your number (and your favourites) below. #ScottishGeology https://t.co/dL5ryCqO5Q
Excited to be presenting @EMRoberts81 led work on #helium distribution in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin @goldschmidt2023 today
This includes new data from @rachwignall PhD from the @cmcghg Newell County Research site
Come along to Room R13 at 4.15pm to find out more!
Followed by a fantastic to be up in Aberdeen at the #EGC23 conference - it was great to have the opportunity to present @TheNobleGasbag, @rachwignall and @EMRoberts81 work on using inherent tracers to track CO2 and to catch up with so many folk
Final blog post for this week - grab a cuppa and have a read about @stugilfillan and @EMRoberts81's Flexible Funding project looking at resolving CO2 trapping and tracking CO2 migration, with @cmcghg!

I'll be presenting the new He and O isotope data from Miocene Iceland plume using NW Iceland basalts in #VMSG23 on 6th January. This study makes the second part of my PhD thesis that covers tracking the evolution of enriched mantle in the upwelling Iceland plume. @SUERCNobleGas
Interesting day. Left -6°C Glasgow late morning; 40 mins north it got above freezing. Nearly got stuck in a snow drift 3 miles from home. Had to build my snow weeping angel in the dark because I didn't get home til sunset. Don't blink!
A great way to celebrate Christmas the country way and all in brill support of #wearefarmingminds. I might be biased, but I think my uncles tractor was the best 🤭 #farmingstock
This is a fascinating read on the origin of radiometric dating and its link to nuclear weapon development
The origin of the enriched isotopes required is something that I'd not thought about, nor that they are a finite resource https://t.co/FANBMBigZc
This small team of superstars have been awarded over €100m from the EU Innovation Fund to build and operate their CO₂ port in Iceland called Coda Terminal.
By the early 2030s it will be receiving, injecting and mineralising 3m tonnes of shipped CO₂ every year.
Game changing.
Fun evening getting to grips with synchrotron science @DiamondLightSou for @IWGeoscience PhD on imaging mineral carbonation in basalt
Been a little while since I've pulled an all-nighter though - definitely harder than it used to be!
Proud to see @EMRoberts81 latest paper cited in the Energy Systems section of the @IPCC_CH 6th Assessment Report.

Today was a learning day for Stevie about the importance of our iron & steel industry, but not before a biscuit at the Forest of Dean Darkhill ironworks. Secret experiments and the worlds first tungsten steel 😮
It’s Stevie’s birthday today. He’s 3. So, for his big day we gave him 3 new balls. Now he has around 3,000 🙄 Happy birthday, Steven…what would we do without you?!
