Technology, SAP, Basketball, Sci-Fi and TRPGs. These are a few of my favourite things. My opinions not employers. he/him
I work @awscloud, all opinions my own.
I’m researching methods of introducing sustainability and carbon-awareness to SAP architectures.
To help me understand where to focus my efforts, I’d like to understand where clients host SAP.
Do you host SAP on:
SAVE THE DATE! I am going to be a guest on The Keys to AWS Optimization on the 30th March. I will be talking with @awssteph about the new SAP Lens V2. Join us on https://t.co/ey259CaEZB at 3:30 BST / 07:30 PT #AWS#FinOps#CFM#KTAO#saponaws
@NBALPSupport why am I seeing unskippable advertisements before I can watch NBA content? I thought I was already paying for this content? Wasn't happening yesterday.
@fesshole With you on this one. Bluey’s dad gets me up off the sofa to take my daughter to the park when I’m tired, he makes me less grumpy and to love and cherish the time of being a father to a young child. Thanks Bluey’s dad.
The AWS Region in Melbourne is now open! This is the second infrastructure Region in Australia joining the AWS Sydney Region to offer customers highly secure, high performance, and the most flexible cloud infrastructure in Australia. https://t.co/QbcrbUpMHq
CERN has almost certainly created a whole bunch of microscopic black holes, but none of them have survived long enough before succumbing to Hawking Radiation to swallow so much as another proton.
We know this, because an even bigger collider has been running for 4.5 Billion yrs.
Ultimately, a sufficiently motivated, well-resourced attacker is going to get your data if that’s their goal. The discussion is how high we set the bar such that the cost and complexity of an attack becomes infeasible. That’s more nuanced than just making systems “safe”.
As we face more devastating east-coast floods, much of the commentary on the government’s abandonment of impacted communities has focused on @ScottMorrisonMP’s character & obsession with image management.
I reckon there's more going on - a deliberate wrecking agenda 🧵#auspol
@sap_aws There are “autoscaling” approaches out there that use a set of predefined but switched off AASs. Load (usually work processes) is monitored from within SAP and makes a cloud API call to turn on/off. Draining sessions also a problem which is why any ASG needs to be SAP aware.
@sap_aws No certification requirements as far as I am aware other than the “must use certified EC2 types” in the SAP note. The problem is not the cloud ASG, rather the stateful nature of the AAS and SAP message server understanding how to internally load balance to named servers.
@rtripathi6@sap_aws For AWS check SAP note 1697114 and related. This behaviour was improved several years ago and the SAP license key is tied to instance ID (via metadata service) rather than specific hardware. SAP kernel version dependency.
